6 Strongest League Champions in Update 10.17: Lux, Evelynn and more
League of Legends update 10.17 has shaken up the current champion meta, so join us for all the latest changes to the best of the best rankings.
Riot has finally released patch 10.17 for League of Legends, which introduced a number of changes in the balance of existing servers. Although no new champions or flashy skins were added in this update, the latest patch did affect the current meta champions.
As the world approaches, many pros and casual players will look to use the strongest legends. To help you increase your win and kill rates, we've determined which champions you should use in the current meta.
Top lane: Darius
The Hand of Noxus returns in 10.17, and this devastating top lane continues to swing his deadly axe, taking down anyone who dares to stand in his way. Darius' high damage output and overall survivability make for a truly deadly combination, especially in late-game teamfights where he can use all his might to rush into the back lane and instantly kill soft carries with devastating blows from his ultimate Noxian Guillotine.
There's a reason this top lane terror currently has a 50,80% win rate and a 40,00% ban rate on the Korean server.
Forester: Evelynn
While Evelynn has received a slight debuff to her Q damage, this devilish jungler still packs a powerful punch. Having a champion that can sneak into the lane unnoticed and catch any overextended opponents is very important, especially when you're aiming to get your carries ahead. With so many threats roaming around the rift, now is the time to play Evelynn.
Try to always disable key targets and look for opportunities to eliminate any threats in 1v1 scenarios. The combination of her slow and highly destructive Q/E abilities makes this ranger a real nightmare, especially when she can sneak up on her prey. Consider using this deadly assassin to stop the popular Darius, Yone and Caitlyn picks.
Mid lane: Yone
Players have been busy slicing and cutting enemies with Yone's deadly blades since his release, but it seems that The Unforgotten was too strong. To address this issue, Riot reduced his base damage and fixed the 100% lifesteal bug in his ultimate. These nerfs may seem quite significant, but they had very little effect on Yone's performance in Summoner's Rift.
Yone still deals fantastic 1v1 damage and can easily change the outcome of a fight with her deadly critical attacks, so be sure to add this swordsman to your roster.
Bot lane: Caitlin
In patch 10.17, Caitlyn returns, and the Sheriff of Piltover is firmly set on the top spot. This deadly AD carry currently has a staggering 52,50% win rate and 30,77% pick percentage on the Korean server, making her one of the most controversial picks in the current meta.
Not only does Caitlyn's incredible range allow her to safely take down enemies from afar, they also have a lot of kill potential at all stages of the game, especially when you build her for critical damage. Caitlyn's recent movement speed reduction has had very little effect on the kill potential of this sharp-eyed ADC, making her an indispensable choice for those who want a quick win.
Support: Lux
Lux is no stranger to the meta spotlight - after all, pros and casual players alike have been using the skilled mage for quite some time now. Lady of the Light may have taken a hit on her mana cost and base shield, but the added 5% increase to her AP gave her even more early game damage. If that's not enough, Lux can block incoming damage with well-timed Ws and even save the life of his lane mate when used effectively.
Lux also has a lot of kill potential at all stages of the game thanks to her trap and ult, forcing her enemies to think carefully before jumping into those all-important deals. With a whopping 54,76% gain and a selection rate of 16,24%, Lux is firmly at the top of the list support leaders. Whether you're tired of just healing your laner or want to be more active in your games, you really can't go wrong with Lux.
Meta Breaker: Aatrox
Aatrox has been missing from competitive play for a while now, but patch 10.17 aims to bring it back into the game. Riot has increased the bonus damage ratio of his ultimate skill, increasing the damage in the mid and late game. Being able to both heal and land a series of fatal blows will always come in handy, especially in those close 1v1 deals and high octane teamfights.
Aatrox's selection ratio is currently on the Korean server is 47,82% , but we expect this number to increase as more players start to see just how powerful the Bloodthirsty Demon is currently. Just be careful choosing Aatrox for Darius as he's not very good against the Noxian general.
