Rockstar's AAA Open World VR Game In Development
Rockstar's New 'AAA Grade' VR Game Is In Development, According To LinkedIn List From Developer LA Noire
On the last week Sydney company Videogames Deluxe has published an update to its profile (for the first time appeared on Reddit ), stating that the team is "preparing for a new project". AAA Open World Title in VR for Rockstar."
Rockstar's new VR game?
It's important to note that Videogames Deluxe is the team behind the 2017 Rockstar VR game, LA Noire on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, as well as a later PSVR port. The team is not listed as a developer on the game's Steam page, but in this video you can clearly see the company listed first in the game's credits.
In fact, original LA Noire director Brendan McNamara has kept his role in the new version and is working in the studio. The original game was developed by Team Bondi, whose former members also work at the studio.
Here's what Rockstar said after asking for confirmation:
Videogames Deluxe is looking for senior programmers, engine programmer, designer and animator to work on a "groundbreaking" project. No other details about the new Rockstar VR game have been announced, but we certainly wanted to know if it was a brand new game or perhaps a port of one of the existing games.
A few years ago HTC reported, that Rockstar wasn't "made" with VR and since then we've seen a very decent mod that brings VR support for a runaway hit - Grand Theft Auto V on PC . We also wrote about Red Dead Redemption 2 perfect for VR port. On the other hand, with so many Team Bondi members on the team, perhaps the continuation of VR LA Noire is on the cards.
If true, this could be the next big VR game to look forward to after the March release. Half-Life: Alyx .
