Among Us - The Game Takes Over Twitch
The Indie Party Game Among Us Isn't Quite new release, but lately its insidious and dangerous elements have made it one of the most popular games on Twitch.
Among Us, originally released in June 2018, and the developers stated in a recent blog post that there was a time in the early days when too few players were online to even find the game.
Compare that to the most recent figures, around 70000 - 110 online players per hour, and it's no surprise that Innersloth announced the release of Among Us 000 sometime in 2 to add some key features and upgraded servers to handle a lot of people.
If you haven't watched or played "Among Us”, don't worry too much, as it's pretty easy to figure out what drives the game. It shouldn't be long before you start pandering to your teammates to get ahead whether you're an impostor or not, so let's see how it works.
How to play Among Us?
In the matchAmong Us» can participate from 4 to 10 players. All players take on the role of a crew member trying to survive on one of the game's 3 maps.
One of your teammates plays the role of the "Traitor", an infected parasitic shape-shifting alien that is obsessed with tricking and killing everyone else on board.
Here's the tricky part: the traitor's identity is known only to that player. This infected crew member can sneak around the ship to attract other players and set up non-imposters. The chosen player can also sabotage parts of the map to keep everyone on their toes.
How to win at Among Us?
The normal, uninfected team has to repair and complete tasks on the map to keep everything working, try to stay alive and find out who the Traitor is so you can get rid of him.
This is achieved with a survivor-style voting screen where players can chat and vote on who to send from the gateway. In these discussions, the impostor can really manipulate people, and sometimes the discussions can get very heated.
Since the identity of the Traitor is known only to him, they are not going to give themselves away and admit it. A false exile can be one of the most annoying things that happens in today's game.
Based on his current trajectory and how fast things are moving on Twitch, it seems that among us, he could be Fall Guys' evil scheming cousin and perhaps even more popular by the time the sequel will go into beta at next year.
