Apex Legends unveils first look at new tropical island map in season 11
Respawn Entertainment has unveiled the launch trailer for Season 11 of Apex Legends: Escape. The trailer reveals some exciting new details about the upcoming Tropical Island map and introduces players to potentially new gameplay elements.
Apex Legends has unveiled the first extended look at the upcoming Tropical Island map in a four-minute cinematic video. From showcasing local wildlife to showing off the abilities of the game's next Legend, the trailer was rife with speculation about what to expect from the early November update.
Much of the trailer seemed to focus on the duality of the island. From the outside, it may seem like a pristine place to get away, but its interior turns out to be a completely different beast, and legends will be busy trying to navigate it.
Let's take a look at a new piece of the preseason puzzle.
New Apex Legends Map Details Revealed
The obvious highlight of the map is the picturesque beach where all the legends first landed. At first, it seems like the perfect place to chill, but the party soon breaks into complete chaos.
This theme continues throughout the trailer as there is only a moment of silence in each new location before being interrupted by the inevitable fight that awaits them.
While the trailer doesn't slow down much, this area, like the one above, is indeed one of the highlights of the video, as it shows the team taking out the bad guys and Ash becoming unstoppable.
This is very similar to the POIs we've been to before - for example, Icarus, a downed ship in the southern part of Mount Olympus. Whatever the case, Ash definitely sees it as important since she's the one leading the team in the first place.
There have also been a few interactions with local animals, and while it's nothing new for Apex Legends, it seems to be getting some attention again this time around.
From Mirage trying to escape a predator at the beginning, to a horde of giant spiders chasing him at the end, it looks like wildlife will play a significant role on the map.
Apex Tropic Island map teasers
The map was first shown through a set of postcards that all depicted the island as the Platonic ideal of a vacation spot, but it's now clear that's not the whole story.
Players still need to know what Ash is looking for on the island, and how it all ties the parachute pod that appeared on Olympus to a possible trip home to Bangalore.
There are still many questions to be answered, but some of them should be cleared up in the first Season 11 gameplay trailer, which will be released on October 25th.
