Apple Will Pay iPhone Owners $500 Million For Batteries Jamb
Tech giant Apple was back against the wall the other day and agreed to pay out about $500 million to buyers after litigation. The class action lawsuit involved battery drain on older iPhones.
And although Apple has long claimed that it is not guilty of severe battery drain, the company made a deal. The manufacturer will now pay $25 to every customer whose iPhone has been affected by this issue. The total amount of payments will be from $310 to $500 million. Portal SeekingAlpha reported that the judge has already pre-approved this transaction.
The problem was discovered in 2016, when customers began to report battery drain and phone shutdowns with the iOS 10.1.1 update. Apple investigated and released an iOS 10.2.1 update that was supposed to fix the problem on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S, but it didn't help. After the battery problem was discovered, Apple reduced the cost of replacing the battery from $79 to $29.
So far, the deal has been frozen due to the coronavirus pandemic. After that, each user whose name was included in the class action will receive $25.
