Counter-Strike 2 beta test shows how grenades work in the new version of the game
Counter-Strike 2 added an in-game grenade trajectory preview feature that shows where the projectile will land. This inclusion removes the need to play custom community servers or maps. Popular streamer OwenSmooyacsdemonstrated this feature while playing on Twitch as part of a beta test.
The announcement of Counter-Strike 2 — and its sub-tick betting, volumetric smoke, and map improvements — has hyped the esports community as major streamers stream it. This includes Shrud and Tariq.
However, minor quality of life improvements, such as the ability to turn on grenade previews to practice using smoke or other projectiles without having to load workshop assets, are also significant improvements over its predecessor.
'Oh my god what!!!': Smooyacs responds to Counter-Strike 2's grenade trajectory preview feature
In Counter-Strike 2, while playing in warm-up mode, players can turn on the grenade preview feature from the game's menu. What it does is show a smaller on-screen popup in the lower left corner that displays exactly where the projectile will land. What's more, a separate crosshair marks its exact location.
After the grenade is thrown, a small windowed camera follows its path. This allows you to better evaluate throws, either trying to learn specific smokes or trying to improve your skills.
Owen was stunned to see the new feature added to Counter-Strike 2 and reacted violently when he threw "nade" at a T-spawn on the iconic Dust 2 map. He exclaimed:
"Oh my God, my God, what!!!"

Smooyacs then proceeded to showcase the feature by pulling out another HE grenade which again triggered the trajectory preview mode for the benefit of its viewers. The streamer was clearly very excited and said:
"Oh my gosh, god!"

Reddit reaction to grenade trajectory preview
Counter-Strike is arguably one of the most iconic FPS games of all time, slowly evolving to its current state over the course of two decades. With millions of fans around the world, the CS:GO community has had mixed reactions to the fact that Valve added such a feature to Counter-Strike 2.
Others noted that the preview was for warm-up and practice modes only and would not be applicable while playing online, much less when played competitively. Others still praised the addition, saying it would help newcomers:
Another big change to grenades that has gotten quite a bit of attention is that the smoke is getting a full revamp and won't be dynamic in nature. The volumetric smoke of the game will react to map assets and has attracted the interest of many, including stars CS:GO s1mple.
The beta testing of the game has already begun, here's how you can sign up to play the game until the summer of 2023 when it finally releases.
