Black Mesa/Half-Life Walkthrough Guide
Black Mesa is an original indie mod created by Carlos Montero and over 40 people from the Black Mesa Modification Team, which is an updated version of Valve Software's Half-Life game.
Scene
Black Mesa recreates the events shown in Half-Life . We play the role of Gordon Freeman, Ph.D. in theoretical physics, an employee of the secret Black Mesa research facility. After a tragic experiment, he will have to face hordes of aliens who came to the center from the world of Xen, as well as the US military, trying to eliminate the threat and hide all evidence of illegal activity by destroying the surviving witnesses of the disaster.
Mechanics
The gameplay mechanics are based on the original 1998 version. Again, the player is dealing with a first-person shooter that emphasizes story. During the game, we explore locations and eliminate opponents. In addition to fighting a wide range of opponents, the game also requires solving simple logic puzzles.
В Black Mesa all enemy models known from the original were implemented , but changes have been made to their artificial intelligence. In addition, the weapons available are also similar to the arsenal known from Half-Life . The player can use both conventional and experimental weapons (based on alien technology), as well as the iconic crowbar.
Game modes
Black Mesa offers both an extensive single-player campaign as well as a multiplayer mode that lets you fight against other users on maps known in halflife, like Bounce, Stalkyard or Undertow.
Technical aspects
Black Mesa in makes full use of the Source Engine. The project did not use the original code Half-Life . This resulted in XNUMX models, XNUMX textures, over XNUMX sound effects, and new recordings of XNUMX lines of dialogue. The new soundtrack was also composed by Joel Nielsen.
