BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2021
COMPLEXITY BEAT G2; SECURING YOUR PLACE IN THE BLAST PREMIER SPRING FINALS SPOT
Without losing a single map, Complexity earned the top 2 spot in Group B of the BLAST Premier Spring.
The return of Valentin Vasiliev "poison" after a two-month hiatus seemed to do wonders for the team, which ended their bad form leading up to this event, with two 2-0 wins, first against Vitality and now over G2.
William "RUSH" Wirzba commented in a post-match interview that the team "changed their mindset after realizing that even when we lose, it doesn't matter."
The 26-year-old American player also spoke about his life situation and the team's poor recent results, noting that these victories make the game worth playing. — Despite staying in hotels, such victories make up for it, to be honest. I completely forgot about the crappy period we had."
A 4-1 lead began for Complexity on the T-side, Mirage, but Nikola's "NiKO" Kovacs and Nemanja "huNter-Kovacs" combo turned the game around and led G2 to a 9-6 victory in the first half of the match. The French-Balkan side also won the pistol round, only to lose strength again, which gave the blameFa team a boost.
Six rounds in a row weren't easy for G2 before François "AmaNEk" Delaunay broke into B on his own with only a pistol to make it 12-12. RUSH then put the team ahead with two key rounds to keep G2 from coming back, but the score was again 14-14. In those moments, Christian "k0nfig" Wienecke came alive as he took a 1v1 against Niko, sparring four in the final round and leading his team to a 16-14 win.
Unlike Mirage, G2 managed to win the pistol round and also converted the second round to Dust2, creating a solid economy for the attacking side. Complexity began to find success with their dual AWP setup and brought the game back to 7-8, ending a tense half. The frantic action continued after the switchover. Complexity won the pistol round, after which they imposed their fight and won Dust2 with a score of 16-12.
