Blizzard Banned Thousands of WoW Players... Then Apologizes To Them

Ultimately, you can hate Blizzard if literally every week it gives us reasons to write not-so-good news.

This time we are talking about mass bans in World of Warcraft (Wrath of the Lich King) Classic, which hit the world of Azeroth yesterday. Thousands of players have been punished with 30 day bans due to… well, that's something we're not sure about.

After the release of the Wotlk Classic Pre-Patch and the opening of fresh servers, it turned out that the best, fastest and most effective way to level up your character is Battlegrounds.

No wonder so many players have been grinding Alterac Valley (BG map) to death just to get their dream experience level.

Unfortunately, many of these people woke up yesterday with a ban...for exploiting or inactivity (AFK) in Battleground, which of course wasn't true. The brilliant and, as always, infallible WoW mechanics - coupled with messages from the ever great and non-toxic WoW community - considered these players' defensive style to be affing and punished them with a month-long banishment.

And then it started. Reddit and the gaming forum were flooded with dozens of threads about unfair mass bans, so it was clear Blizzard was at fault this time.

Effect? As of this morning, "banned" players are receiving emails of apology as well as information that their accounts are clean and active again. Blizzard makes it clear that "after looking at the evidence more closely, closing the account was a mistake».

In all of this, it's a pity for those nerves of the players who - almost - would have avoided the premiere of Wrath of the Lich King Classic (September 26).

UPDATE: WoW fans are laughing that Blizz has found a way to queue in the game. You just need to ban some players… :)
