Borderlands 3: How to Get Rick and Morty's Legendary Shotgun
Borderlands 3 released on September 13th, and players have been scouring the wastelands for easter eggs and pop culture references. Here's how you can get Rick and Morty's Legendary Shotgun.
Gearbox Software's looting shooter Borderlands is known for its over the top humor, and it's the series' wealth of pop culture references and hidden secrets. With the release of the third installment, fans have found a nod to the popular animated series Rick and Morty.
Not only are there weapons in regards to sci-fi animation, there is also a hidden boss. Here is a guide on how to find and get the legendary shotgun.
Where can I find the hidden boss from Rick and Morty?
After opening the game section, players will go to the planet Prometheus. Once there, head to the city of Lectra. For players who haven't visited the location yet, you'll unlock it after completing the mission for Moxxi called 'Kill Killavolt' that you get on the Sanctuary Ship.
To enter the city of Lectra, go to the Meridian Metroplex - this is the exit in the center of the map. Once you've entered the city, go to the very top right corner of the map, where you'll find a shipping container next to the police station.
The boss duo will spawn from a container and they look a lot like animated Rick and Morty characters.
If you don't see any enemies, you will have to exit the city and re-enter, as they spawn randomly, although they spawn there in 80% of 100.
How to get the legendary shotgun?
Once you get into a boss fight, it's important to try and take them out as quickly as possible, as the enemies can teleport and even send the player to another location. The battle can also end prematurely if they run away.
The lowest requirement for a battle is Level 14, so most players should be fine to handle on their own. Although it is necessary to keep your distance and stick with ranged attacks, as they can catch you off guard with their teleportation.
Once you defeat them, the weapon they can throw is a legendary shotgun called Redundant Phebert, which emits green effects with each shot that are similar to the green portals from the TV show.
The stats are randomized, but the weapon is powerful enough that Hyperion deploys a shield when the player uses it. The description reads "faster than all counts" and the pump has the benefit of using it "Irradiated enemies deal damage to nearby enemies in their full activity".
The SMG doesn't always drop, as the Easter boss duo can, unfortunately, drop a different weapon. But you can fight them over and over to try and get the legendary shotgun, so don't worry if it doesn't show up the first time.
With a game filled to the brim with hidden easter eggs and rare loot, the possibilities seem endless for pop culture references to be discovered further.
