HOW FIRE CONTACT WORKS
Before we get to our tips, let's just take a few minutes to learn how Fire Contact works. This is a 2v2 mode that is intense and fast paced. All four of you have the same load and the goal is to win six rounds against the opposing team. Usually the round ends when the team has been wiped out, but on rare occasions when this doesn't happen within the first few seconds, a flag will appear that you can capture instead. If neither of these two targets has been completed after a few seconds, the round ends and the team with the most health left is the winner.
The maps are absolutely tiny, so it's incredibly rare that a round will end without at least one team falling under a hail of bullets almost instantly. In fact, on some maps you practically spawn right in front of each other, and simply moving left or right at the start of a round puts you right in the line of fire. Basically, if you really just want a fast-paced mode that puts shooting first, this is the mode for you.
ADAPT YOUR STRATEGY TO YOUR WEAPON
Each round of the game mode provides you with a different weapon, and it's best to tailor your approach to the weapon. Recommended strategies depending on the weapon:
- Machine: Separate and try to outflank the enemy. Stay on the move using cover and don't get too close. Assault rifles work at medium range.
- SMGs: Rush. Get as close to the enemy as possible and let your superior rate of fire and mobility dominate. You don't need your opponent to fight you from a distance.
- Shotgun: You can either find a suitable place to defend or follow the same method as SMGs. In any case, try not to be seen until you are very close. Stay down and use cover.
- LMGs: Adopt a similar strategy for the assault rifle, although ideally you don't want to move that much. Find a safe place to set up your weapon and shoot endlessly without worrying about recoil - just make sure your teammate is watching your back.
- Shotguns:The same strategy applies here as assault rifles or sniper rifles. You don't want to get too close as this weapon works best from a distance.
- Sniper rifle:Camp. If you're not very sure of your target, it's best to find a safe ambush spot and let the enemy come to you. Lie down, find cover, and don't let shame get in your way. Watch out for the flag though as your opponent can use this opportunity to capture it.
PLAY WITH A FRIEND
Naturally, you'll have a lot more success if you're playing with a friend rather than a random player. Communication is key in a gunfight to defeat your opponent. Use a headset and actually talk to your friend. Let him know as soon as you see movement and act as his eyes if you die. Play different roles. Distract the enemy with fire and let your teammate flank them, or charge in together and go gun to gun.
KEEP MOVING (BUT USE COVER)
Fire contact is a fast-paced game mode, and unless you have a weapon that prefers to remain stationary (LMG or sniper rifle), it's best to keep moving. After all, a moving target is harder to hit. When moving, use cover and block each other, as the maps are so small that they will eventually spot you.
USE A HEADSET AND LISTEN CAREFULLY
This goes a little against our advice above to play and talk with a friend, but we also recommend that you wear a headset to help you hear your opponents better. If you hear them, then you have a better idea of where they are coming from.
DON'T NEGLECT YOUR EQUIPMENT
That's right, you have equipment, including flares, smoke grenades, regular grenades, and more. Take a quick look as the round starts checking what you have available and don't be afraid to use it. Throw this flare forward or use a smoke grenade to provide cover. Ready and throw your frag grenade and throw it forward at the start of the round and you can catch your opponent by surprise.
GET TO KNOW THE CARDS
This is important in all modes of modern warfare, but perhaps even more so in Fire Contact. You, and ideally your friend, should know the map thoroughly. What makes it easy is that they are not very large, so it won't take you too long to create a mind map, but it will pay dividends. You will know where is the best way to approach the enemy and where he is likely moving as we speak.
GRAB THE FLAG OR USE IT AS BAIT
If the round doesn't end in a matter of seconds in a flurry of bullets, a flag will appear that you can grab as an alternative method of beating up your opponents. This can work in your favor as you can try to infiltrate and camp next to the flag, but it can also lead to your failure as your opponent can do the same.
INCREASE YOUR SENSITIVITY
The firefight is incredibly fast paced and enemies can pop up from anywhere on the tiny map. We found this really helps to increase your sensitivity as it allows you to aim faster, potentially giving you a few extra milliseconds to shoot them down. Every millisecond counts in modern warfare, due to its incredibly fast style.
