Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 New Maps
New season, new cards! Let's see what's in store for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 starts today, August 5, 2020. With the new season comes all sorts of new features and stuff, including a new Battle Pass, new things to do on the Warzone map, and new Operators to play as. You can also look forward to brand new maps in Modern Warfare's regular multiplayer, alongside modes like Ground War and Gunfight.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 New Maps
A total of four new maps are coming with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5. Two multiplayer maps, one for gunplay and one for Ground War. Each map brings a new location for these types of games, although there are some neat intersections that attentive players may notice.
Livestock-Gunfight
In this new Gunfight map, players will be able to break into and around this rural barn area in what Infinity Ward says is "a hundred flanking routes." The map features all sorts of farm staples, including hay bales and farm equipment, providing some unconventional cover for this melee-focused mode.
Petrov Oil Rig - Multiplayer
This map, which is set aboard a powerful, working oil rig, is new to the series. It is a 6v6 map that is set "in the cold waters of a secret oceanic location, far from the usual sites of modern warfare." There are five main areas on this map, with the starting points being either a lifeboat muster point or a helicopter landing area at opposite ends of the entire space. Players will fight through other areas, including the central bridge, cafeteria, oil storage, and drill.
Suldal Harbor - Multiplayer
This card is a real blast from the past. Suldal Harbor is a reimagined version of the Harbor map from the very first Call of Duty. Set in the Middle East near a medieval castle (unfortunately you can't go to a castle), this 6v6 map is considered "medium" and is built around tight corners and critical points. It seems that separate roles in teams can be an effective strategy, with melee weapons being perfect for controlling choke points, while long-range weapons are useful for protecting targets.
Verdyansk International Airport - Ground War
Normally you would only see this area if you're playing Warzone, but now the VIA building is the Ground War map for the main game. The battle takes place both inside and outside the airport, and includes a parking lot, an underground garage, hangars, and even an apartment complex nearby. This is the main map, and Infinity Ward emphasizes that there are plenty of opportunities here for different playstyles. At the airport, everyone will find something for themselves, which would be nice to say about a real airport, but alas.
