Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Banned from Russian PlayStation Store
Sony Interactive Russia has refused to sell the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in the Russian PlayStation store, as announced by Activision.
Modern Warfare is the fourth game in the series, providing a reimagined story that does not follow directly from the original trilogy, but takes place in the same universe.
At first it became clear that SIE Russia there were some reservations about the game after the beta for the game was abruptly removed from the PlayStation store.
In addition, pre-orders for the game made in the Russian PlayStation store were canceled and the money was returned to users who had already paid for them.
When the beta was pulled, an Activision spokesperson told CharlieINTEL, "Unfortunately, Sony Interactive Entertainment is unable to support the Modern Warfare beta on PS4 in Russia this weekend."
On October 22, Call of Duty Russia confirmed that "SIE has decided not to sell the game on the Russian PS Store" despite the fact that it is "a completely fictional story carefully crafted to please all players."
At the heart of Modern Warfare is a completely fictional story, carefully crafted to please all players. SIE decided not to sell the game in the Russian PS Store. We're looking forward to the digital release for PC and Xbox on October 25th.
On PC, the game is available exclusively on Battle.Net, meaning Activision itself has full control.
Will it Modern Warfare on Xbox in Russia?
For now, it seems Microsoft hasn't raised the same objections to selling the Xbox One game in Russia.
Characteristically, of the two major consoles, the game is coming forward in Russia on the Microsoft store for the Xbox, but not the PlayStation.
