King Shark and Polka Dot Man Best in Suicide Squad 2

This will be a guide to all the characters in Suicide Squad 2, where two characters are most remembered: the King Shark and the Polka Dot Man.

I'll start right off the bat! For all fans of superhero movies to watch MANDATORY!
The superhero blockbuster The Suicide Squad has little to do with the first part, directed by David Ayra in 2016. This is not a remake and not a sequel, but a separate work with its own storyline. But some characters from the original Suicide Squad will return to the screens, and although there is no Will Smith, trust me, you will not be bored!
So, here are all the characters that you will meet in the second part.

Suicide Squad line-up "Mission Bangout"

Amanda Waller (Viola Davis)

Oscar-winning Viola Davis (Fences, How to Get Away with Murder) reprises her role as bandleader Amanda Waller. Waller visits supervillains in the most dangerous prison in the United States - Belle Reve - and offers them freedom if they complete her task. Of those who agree to her terms, the woman forms the X-Special Squad, also known as the Suicide Squad.

Together with his team, Waller sends the Squad to the island of Corto Maltese, where they have to complete a dangerous mission. In Kanobu's press materials for the film, Margot Robbie describes the character as a female version of Colonel Nathan Jessep, Jack Nicholson's character from A Few Good Men. Waller is a man without superpowers, but with an iron will and a complete lack of compassion. These qualities make her more dangerous than any supervillain.

Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie)

Charming psychopath performed by Margot Robbie ("Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ...", "I, Tonya") often appeared on screens in DC films. Harley Quinn, the right hand and beloved of the villain Joker, became one of the main characters of the Suicide Squad in 2016. Once she was a psychiatrist, but for the sake of a relationship with the Joker, she abandoned her old life, bathed in chemicals, acquired her trademark white skin color and unusual style.

In 2020, Harley released her solo film Birds of Prey: The Amazing Story of Harley Quinn, where she tried to build a new life in Gotham after breaking up with the Joker. In Gunn's movie, Harley Quinn's relationship status is not specified, and the Joker is not mentioned. It is only known that the head of the "Squad" Amanda Waller promised her freedom in exchange for the mission - like all the other characters in the picture.

Colonel Rick Flag (Juel Kinneman)

Joel Kinneman ("Altered Carbon") returns as Rick Flag, a former military man entrusted with a squad of unstable superheroes. The flag put all his life in the service of the United States. Under the orders of Amanda Waller, he coordinates the team and is responsible for ensuring that its members see the job through to the end. Against the backdrop of other people's superpowers, strange costumes and explosive characters, he seems to be the only down to earth and sane character (not counting Bloodsport).

Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney)

This character, played by Jai Courtney (“Unbroken”), still wields boomerangs, is poorly adapted to teamwork, and perceives any threat with a big smile. In this film, his costume is closer to the classic comics look than in Eyre's version: Harkness wears a coat with special straps to which his boomerangs are attached.

What new characters will join the Suicide Squad

Bloodsport (Idris Elba)

One of the main characters of the "Suicide Squad" Air was a brutal shooter Deadshot. Gunn's version also has such a character - sniper Robert Dubois, better known as Bloodsport (literally "blood sport"). From childhood, his father trained Dubois as a mercenary, taught him how to handle several types of weapons and, in fact, doomed him to a life of crime. Amanda Waller has to put a lot of pressure on Bloodsport to join the Squad.

The role of a noble but cruel mercenary was played by Idris Elba ("Luther"). It is worth saying that Bloodsport has the most inventive murder weapons in the entire film - several devices are hidden in his suit at once, which will be needed in different situations.

Peacemaker (John Cena)

Every superhero movie or TV show should have its own Captain America. The Peacemaker is responsible for exaggerated patriotism, determination and stubbornness in the "Squad". Like Bloodsport, he is a top-notch sniper. But Christopher Smith does not kill for profit, but in the name of the peace and tranquility of the American population. Even if on the way to peace you have to destroy women and children (an indirect quote from the hero from the film).

WWE wrestler John Cena was cast as the Peacekeeper. From a human meme, he turned into a frequent guest of blockbusters: in May 2021, Fast and the Furious 9 was released, where Cena plays Dominic Toretto's brother.

Polka Dot Man (David Dastmalchyan)

Abner Krill has one of the most mysterious powers of any member of the Squad. In normal times, he may appear to be a timid and indecisive person suffering from a strange illness. But in combat, the Polka Dot Man unleashes a swarm of colored blobs that cut through any material and can tear a man to shreds in seconds. Krill is played by David Dastmalchian (Blade Runner 2049), a geek and big fan of DC who has been collecting information about the Polka Dot Man bit by bit from various comics.

Pied Piper-2 (Daniela Melshior)

According to Bloodsport in the Gunn film itself, Clao joined the Squad literally because "Ratcatcher 1 was unavailable" (he died before the events of the film). Caso is the daughter of the French superhero Pied Piper, who has been trained in his craft since childhood; like her father, she knows how to command rodents and make them do any dirty work. Pied Piper 2 is always followed by her smart pet rat, Sebastian.

Clao Caso is a new character that didn't exist in the comics. When creating this character, James Gunn was inspired by the original Pied Piper from DC, and he invited the little-known Portuguese actress Daniela Melshior to play the role.

King Shark (Sylvester Stallone)

Half-man, half-shark, Nanaue is the son of the shark god, an incredibly strong and at the same time naive creature. He does not shine with intelligence and is often guided by instincts (mainly hunger), but sincerely tries to invest in a common cause.

The voice of King Shark was given by the legendary Sylvester Stallone (Rocky franchise) - the character was completed using computer graphics, and actor Steve Agee embodied him on the set. Stallone described King Shark as "the hunchback of Notre Dame" - ugly and not very smart, but with a kind heart.

Savant (Michael Rooker)

In the comics, Brian Durlin was a spoiled heir to a huge fortune who wanted to become a superhero in Gotham. In "Squad" he appears as an old, but still dangerous man. Savant has long been bored out of Belle Reve and agrees to an assignment from Amanda Waller in order to finally leave the walls of the prison.

Savant was played by Michael Rooker, an actor familiar to many fans of James Gunn's work. Without his blue makeup, it's hard to recognize Yonda, Star-Lord's mentor in both Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Blackguard (Pete Davidson)

Little is known about Blackguard, or the Blackguard: he possesses supernatural powers and willingly offers his services for money. Caught on one of the tasks, the Guardian landed in Belle Reve and later agreed to a deal with Waller. Beneath the Sentinel's ultra-durable armor is actor and comedian Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live, "King of Staten Island").

T.D.K., or Rip-Off-Hand-Guy (Nathan Fillion)

The supervillain name Rip-Off-Guy doesn't sound too sinister, but his ability is impressive. T.D.K. really can at any time separate the hands from the body and use them to destroy enemies. In this role, Gunn's satirical "Suicide Squad" was able to bring Nathan Fillion ("Firefly") back to superhero cinema. In 2008, it was Fillion who played a ludicrous interpretation of Superman in Joss Whedon's parody musical The Dr. Terrible Music Blog.

Weasel (Sean Gunn)

No one really knows why this team needs Weasel - an anthropomorphic animal that resembles either a shabby werewolf or a mutated Afghan hound dog. Weasel does not use weapons and does not have special intelligence; only speed, agility and strong paws help her in battle. And underneath the tons of CGI is James Gunn's brother, actor Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls).

Spear (Flula Borg)

Visually, Spear is most reminiscent of a comic book character - at least he has a stupid tights and a mask. According to DC canon, Gunther Braun was once a German Olympian, but later turned to using his projectile for criminal purposes. Another weapon of the Spear is his authentic German accent, which even Harley Quinn won over. The character owes them to the YouTube blogger and voice actor Flule Borg (“Ralph Breaks the Internet”).

Mongal (Ng Meiling)

Mongal is an alien daughter of the ruler of an inhospitable planet called Warworld. She was born in a place that was created for gladiator fights, so from childhood she was used to solving problems by force. Her father and brothers appear much more often in DC comics, but it was Mongal who, for unknown reasons, ended up in Belle Reve and agreed to work for Amanda Waller. The aggressive orange alien was played by Ng Meiling, a Chinese-born martial arts actress.

The Thinker (Peter Capaldi)

Progressive scientist Guy Greaves has not become a full-fledged member of the Suicide Squad, but plays a large role in carrying out his mission. The Thinker owns a dangerous military development that must not fall into the wrong hands. Greaves worked on it for decades and even implanted special implants into the skull to help him maximize brain function. Peter Capaldi (the Twelfth Doctor from Doctor Who) said he was excited about the opportunity to "be an evil genius with his own evil genius lab."
