Extremely Rare CS:GO Knife Could Be The Most Expensive In History
Counter-Strike is widely known for skin trading, with some selling for over $100000, but this surface-hardened karambit knife can cost around $800000.
In 2016, a factory new pattern 387 Case Hardened Karambit sold for around $100000. Just five years later, this is arguably the most valuable item in Counter-Strike history, estimated to sell for $800000.
Some skins have been sold at outrageous prices in the past, such as in July 2020 when an M4A4 Howl with rare 2014 Katowice iBUYPOWER stickers was reportedly sold for a world record $100000, and is now on sale for $130.
Well-known skin collector ohnePixel posted a short video on YouTube on July 29 showing this rare knife. During the video, ohnePixel claimed it could sell for over $800.
Claiming that the skin will sell for $800000 may be a bit ambitious in some people's eyes, but it's certainly not impossible. While we don't know exactly how much the knife will sell for, it's fair to say that it will sell for at least a couple of hundred thousand, based on sales of other beauty products.
What makes the knife so rare?
The variable that makes your Counter-Strike cosmetics so rare is its floating value, which called skin condition. The floating point value ranges from 0 to 1, where 0 means the least wear and 1 the most wear. To make things easier, floating point values are divided into five categories.
- 0 - 0.07 - Factory Direct
- 0,07 - 0,15 - Minimal Wear
- 0.15 - 0.38 - After field testing
- 0.38 - 0.45 - Well-Worn
- 0.45 - 1 - Battle-Scarred
In this case, this knife has an offset value of 0,04, making it Factory Direct. Another factor that makes Case Hardened skins so rare is the different patterns you can get. On the knife, the 387 pattern almost completely covers the entire blue side of the knife, making it more visible. The bluer, the more expensive!
Technical description of the karambit knife Surface hardening
The story of
Karambit | Case Hardened was added to the game on August 14, 2013 as part of The Arms Deal update. The skin is available in 11 cases released in 2013-2015
Description of the pattern
The hardened blade of the knife is covered with a pattern of spots of various shades of blue, yellow and purple. The handle of the knife is not painted.
Float value influence
Float Value Karambit | Surface Hardening ranges from 0.0 to 1.00, which makes the skin available in all conditions. There are no signs of wear and tear or scratches. At levels of wear close to the maximum, the knife blade loses its metallic luster, becomes covered with a layer of patina and appears significantly darker than in Factory New condition.
Skin Features
Karambit | Surface Hardened is an Arcane quality skin and is available with a StatTrak counter. The skin is part of the Surface Hardened series.
Skin Popularity
Karambit | Surface hardening is one of the popular skins and has a large number of fans. This skin with rare variations of the pattern is especially prized among collectors.
Pattern Differences
Karambit Pattern Index | Surface hardening directly affects the appearance and cost of the skin. The most expensive and rare are the pattern variations, on the front side of which pure blue areas (“Blue Gem”) predominate. Variations of the pattern, in which the amount of cyan on the front side is 50%-70%, are also considered rare. The most budgetary variations are completely yellow patterns or variations with small areas of blue shades covering up to 30% of the blade area.
