What happens if you kill all the merchants in Elden Ring?

In Elden Ring, you can physically eliminate any merchant or NPC, including important characters you meet along the way. This is what happens when you kill every trader in the Interearth.

Despite the fact that Elden Ring Huge open world map, the game brings back many of the key features of the Dark Souls franchises. One of them is the ability for users to harm any NPC in the game's history.

Devious players looking to kill anyone walking in their direction might be curious about what happens if you kill the merchants. Here are the consequences of clearing the map of merchants.

Can you kill the Merchants in Elden Ring?

One of the first characters you'll meet in Elden Ring is Cale the Merchant in Elle's church in Limgrave. An NPC that looks like Santa Claus is a vendor who will offer you items in exchange for runes.

In previous Dark Souls games, such characters could be killed, but this often led to dire consequences, such as blocking shops or special items for the rest of the game. In Elden Ring it seems FromSoftware not only has pretty much given up on any negative effects, but can actually be beneficial.

Every time you manage to eliminate one of the NPCs, he drops an item that looks like ash from DS3. The vendor in the Round Table will start selling the entire range of merchants for these items. Despite the fact that killing a non-player character imposes a sin effect on the player, it can be removed in the Temple of Oaths for heavenly dew.

In total there are about 11 merchants for players to track down on the map, and we have a dedicated guide with exact directions on where to look for merchants (read here).

Summing up the above, we note that at the moment, killing the merchants of Elden Ring is largely profitable, although they intimidate you in every way when they meet, trying to protect themselves from reprisal.
