What You Need to Play Hitman 3 in Virtual Reality and How to Set It Up
Complete the entire Hitman trilogy on PSVR using this guide.
Hitman 3 is not just the latest Hitman game to debut on modern systems, it's also the first Hitman game to give you an official way to play in VR. Yes, you may have seen the hype surrounding the latest adventure. Agent 47 but I'm willing to admit that you haven't seen enough people talking about this great supplement yet. Finally, you can look through the eyes of a bald killer and wreak havoc, or silently walk through a crowd of people, completely unnoticed. It's hard to go without a wig, but you can do it.
Play as Agent 47 in VR is a very different experience, and in this guide, we'll quickly cover which VR platforms you can play on and what you need to make it all work.
If you're the kind of VR fanatic who invested in an Oculus Quest 2, or perhaps even something more extravagant like the Valve Index, then you might be a little disappointed - at least in the short term. The thing is, Hitman 3 is officially only playable in VR on PS4 via PSVR. I know it's sad.
However, you should keep your head down, as PS4's excellent VR implementation leads us to believe that Hitman 3 will definitely have a VR mode on PC in the near future, though Epic Games Store exclusivity will likely prevent this in the short term. Once this game becomes more accessible and Epic addresses the growth in save data transfer, it seems almost guaranteed that Hitman 3 will be available in VR on PC and with more controller compatibility than currently available.
Hitman 3 VR Controllers
You might be jealous of a pair of PS Move controllers right now - or if you're a regular VR gamer, you might already own a pair - but that's not necessary if you want to play Hitman 3. Right now, Hitman 3 in VR is only compatible with the DualShock 4 controller, not PS Move controllers. It does seem like an odd choice, but it works quite well while playing.
Playing Hitman 3 Through PSVR
There are a few differences to keep in mind when playing Hitman 3 on PSVR, but thankfully there are a number of VR-specific guides that will teach you everything you need to know about controlling Agent 47 in the new environment.
The only thing you have to remember is your environment. PSVR's head tracking and controller technology is heavily focused on the DS4's lightbar and the lights surrounding the headset. If there is too much light in your room, maybe the sun is shining through the window directly onto the camera, then you will have problems.
A medium to low light room is the best environment where the headset and controller are always in the camera's field of view. You'll need to perform motions with the controller, including reaching out and pushing in front of you, so make sure your TV or table is some distance away so you won't hit walls, furniture, pets, or pesky kids.
