DAMWON Became World Champions By Winning LoL Worlds 2020 From Suning
After a month of competition, the 2020 League of Legends World Championship has finally come to an end and DAMWON Gaming defeated Suning 3-1 in the grand final.
The World Championship is the most prestigious event in the League of Legends competitive season, and it brings together the best teams from every region to battle it out in hopes of winning the Summoner's Cup.
After an eventful World Championship playoff stage filled with many exciting matches and disappointments, DAMWON Gaming and Suning were the last teams to face off on October 31st.
Results of the Grand Final of the 2020 World Cup
While Damwon Gaming's Korean roster was considered one of the favorites throughout the tournament, Suning Gaming shocked everyone during the tournament by taking down the likes of Top Esports, JDG and G2 Esports in their impressive run as a dark horse.
Both teams advanced to the grand final with a bang, and the first map was incredibly close to the final moments. DAMWON managed to secure a 22-minute game of Infernal Soul, but Suning didn't give up without a fight, dragging out the game until the LCK rep eventually won a teamfight to close it out.
Finals Map 2 also produced some insane highlights such as SofM trapping Rengar in the woods and Bean winning the first ever Pentakill in the World Championship final, allowing the Sunings to tie the score 1-1.
The final international series of the year saw little between the two teams, but DAMWON's team prowess ultimately proved too much for the LPL's third seed, winning important fights around neutral targets in games 3 and 4 to win world championship.
After several years of failures by Korean teams in the World Cup Finals, DAMWON Gaming will now cement its place in World Cup history and bring the Summoner's Cup back to the LCK.
