Even Zlatan Ibrahimovic Hates Fortnite v8.2 Update

Zlatan Ibrahimovich

Football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has joined growing calls for Epic Games to cancel the Fortnite v8.20 update that was released on March 27th.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is best known for his talents in the football arena, currently playing for American MLS club A Galaxy. He has previously proven his talents at the highest levels by winning the French Ligue 1 in four consecutive seasons with Paris Saint-Germain and most recently won the Europa League with Manchester United in 2018.

However, he has now shared his thoughts with the gaming community on Fortnite's latest major update. On March 29, to his 5,6 million Twitter followers, he simply tweeted: "Zlatan says come back."

The wording of the tweet in the third person is normal for Zlatan's followers, as he regularly refers to himself as such. It merges broader community complaints with the v8.20 update, which brings major changes to game mechanics and random Fortnite modes.

The update reversed the changes that were made during Fortnite Season 7, where players received a 50 XP bonus upon killing an enemy, a 40% increase in farming speed, and a minimum of 50 of each material dropped upon destruction. This was seen as a further effort by the Epic Games developers to make the game more beginner friendly, as the health bonus encouraged a more aggressive playstyle and rewarded players who successfully eliminated opponents.

Ninja Daequan Courage
Zlatan joins Courage, Daequan and Ninja as prominent figures to criticize the update.

At the time of writing, Zlatan's tweet has over 10 retweets and 000 likes, underscoring the community's degree of agreement with him.

FaZe Clan's Jev saw the funny side of the tweet, replying, "Dude, even Ibra says fuck that shit."

Epic Games has not yet responded to community backlash over the changes, but they were quick to make adjustments when there was similar backlash in 2018 over the addition of Infinity Blade in Fortnite. However, this was simply an item removal, not major in-game decisions that affect the removal mechanic. Whatever happens next, it's clear that Zlatan - and many others - want to see change sooner rather than later.
