Demeo Wins Best VR Game at VR Awards, Reverb Omnicept Wins Best Hardware
Delightful virtual reality dungeon crawler Demeo won Game of the Year at the annual VR Awards.
The ceremony took place last night and is dedicated not only to virtual reality games, but also to equipment, businesses, healthcare and a number of other categories. Demeo faced stiff competition including "Star Wars: Squadrons"and" Tales From The Galaxy's Edge ", but ended up at the top of the list of 12 contenders.
In terms of hardware, the enterprise-focused HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition took first place. The device is similar to the consumer Reverb G2 released last year, but includes additional biometric sensors to track the user's reactions in virtual reality. It was an even tougher category than gaming, and HP struggled with the Oculus Quest 2, Vive Focus 3, and XR-3 Varjo among others.
Numerous other applications and features were recognized throughout the evening. No Ghost's Atlas V and Madrid Noir took home the VR experience award, while 3DAR's Paper Birds was the winner of the VR Films category. You can check the list of winners at Twitter account VR Awards.
Demeo's victory is well-deserved. The game is still being updated and its expected third dungeon will be released next month.
More VR rewards are coming this season. The Jeff Keighley Awards kick off next month: Sniper Elite, Resident Evil 4, Hitman 3 and more could be the best VR game.
