Destiny 3 will not appear in the near future
Game developers Bungie, the team behind the Halo and Destiny franchises, have outlined a grim outlook for the likelihood of a Destiny 3 game hitting shelves anytime soon.
Destiny 3 is a highly anticipated title in the gaming community, and many fans are enjoying another chance to get their hands on one of Bungie's action-packed FPS games. The first Destiny was released in 2014 and a sequel followed 3 years later.
Both games received community and critical acclaim. Some fans were expecting another Destiny game in 2020, after a three-year gap that separated the first two parts. However, the most recent update from Bungie is likely to leave them disappointed.
David 'Digee' Doug, director of communications at the Washington studio, recently spoke to PCgamesn.com, over the future of the Destiny series. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be getting our hands on a third Destiny anytime soon.
“I don’t have any good announcements about the next bold moves we make in the franchise,” Doug said when asked when the studio would stop supporting Destiny 2 to focus on a third game.
He continued, “Now our commitment and our focus is to make the seasons that will unfold over the next year interesting and maintain a consistent storyline that will keep players engaged.”
Destiny 3 Vryatli Coming in 2020
However, Bungie's communications director had some comforting words for fans. He finished, “I understand the question you are asking, and it is certainly an interesting question and we will have many interesting things to say about it later, but I am afraid that this point will have to wait a bit.”
It looks like Bungie is making sure Destiny 2 thrives for as long as it can before they move on to another sequel. It's unclear if the company's split with Activision in January 2019 has anything to do with the company's decision.
Many fans have speculated that the third Destiny game will be released towards the end of 2020, in line with when the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X are scheduled to release.
There are speculations that Bungie seems to have put the wrench to work on the third installment, but are postponing their game to focus on its predecessor. However, it looks like Destiny 3 is coming, and coming to next gen consoles.
