EA SPORTS FC: FIFA Rebrand, Game Modes, Licenses, More

In 2023, EA is rebranding its flagship football sim from FIFA to EA SPORTS FC, and fans will be wondering how this will affect the game as a whole. Here's everything we know about EA SPORTS FC so far, including the game modes, leagues, and licenses that will be included.

After nearly 30 years of partnership, FIFA 23 will be the last of EA's football games to use the FIFA branding. EA SPORTS FC will be launched in 2023, described by the publisher as "the future of interactive football".

With such a major shift, many fans will no doubt be wondering how the game they know and love will change and whether core features like Ultimate Team and Career Mode will be affected.

We've collected all the information we know about EA SPORTS FC in one place, including the game mode and licenses that will be displayed.

The name has been changed, but what will happen to the game?

EA SPORTS FC Game Modes

The good news for FIFA fans is that EA has confirmed that all the game modes they are used to seeing are will return to EA SPORTS FC. As far as we know right now, there are no plans to remove any of the modes that currently exist in FIFA games.

It's no surprise that Ultimate Team will be back, as it has been one of EA's biggest wins in recent years. How FUT, or whatever will be shortened for the future, will be changed to accommodate the new branding remains to be seen.

Here are all the game modes confirmed for use in EA SPORTS FC:

  • An unrivaled team
  • Career mode
  • Professional clubs
  • Volta

With the newfound freedom that developers have without the restrictions of a FIFA deal, it's also possible that we'll see some new modes. We will update this section as soon as there is any news.

Leagues EA SPORTS FC

EA SPORTS

Many clubs have already confirmed that they are included, such as Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City.

One of the biggest advantages of the FIFA series over a rival like eFootball (formally PES) is the fully realized players, clubs and leagues it offers. It appears that EA SPORTS FC will retain its many licenses, much to the relief of longtime fans.

EA owns the rights to over 700 teams, each with their own official kits and players, from over 30 different leagues around the world. They can also use over 100 stadiums from these domestic leagues, including venues such as Old Trafford, San Siro and La Bombonera.

It is worth noting that some teams, such as Juventus, are not covered by the Serie A license, and this is also unlikely to change in EA SPORTS FC. Check out the full list of licensed leagues confirmed to participate:

  • Premier League (England)
  • EFL Championship (England)

EA SPORTS FC licenses

UEFA

Getting the Champions League license was a huge win for EA in FIFA 19.

In addition to regular leagues and players, EA has begun to expand to require licenses for other tournaments in recent years. This started with international cups and soon spread to domestic European competitions.

Popular FIFA World Cup content has been confirmed to return in FIFA 23, but there's no word on whether EA will be able to use this particular license after the partnership ends. As such, we'll have to wait and see if Career Mode players can take part in the EA SPORTS FC World Cup.

К счастью, UEFA aims to maintain partnership with football series. This means that the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League should return to both Career Mode and Ultimate Team for promotions such as Road to the Finale.

In a statement released alongside the initial announcement, Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Chief Marketing Officer, said: “With a shared commitment to serving football fans around the world, we look forward to our continued partnership with EA SPORTS FC to provide players with an authentic gaming experience. featuring the club competitions they love."

When will EA SPORTS FC be shown?

It's only natural that fans will still have many questions and concerns about the future of the franchise, and EA has confirmed that a more detailed reveal will take place in July 2023 years.

Here we should get our first real look at what EA SPORTS FC has kept from FIFA, as well as any new innovations. But the publisher is clearly looking to focus on FIFA 23 before pulling back the curtain.
