EA SPORTS Considers Removing Ronaldinho From FIFA 20 Ultimate Team
EA Sports is seriously considering removing Brazilian legend Ronaldinho from FIFA 20 Ultimate Team following his legal troubles in Paraguay, according to a new report.
Ronaldinho and his brother were arrested in Paraguay on March 6 after they allegedly tried to enter the country with fake documents and passports that matched their description, resulting in the brothers being found to be fraudulent due to their citizenship being listed as Paraguayan.
With that being said, the sanctions against Ronaldinho are gaining momentum and he is now facing disciplinary action in FIFA 20 as well as in the real world as EA Sports appears to be seriously considering removing him from the game entirely.
According to the report ESPN Brazil via Diário Olé, EA is looking into removing the player following his legal issues, which means all four of his Icon cards will be completely removed from the game.
Rated 89, 91, 94 and 95 throughout his career, Ronaldinho's Icon cards are highly coveted cards where teams are often built around them or sold to accommodate much stronger players.
His legend rank on the pitch reflects well in his in-game stats and status, but it's possible that he won't be in the game at all soon, and it won't be a completely unexpected move.
EA Sports have shown that they are not afraid to make bold decisions like these. Earlier in the FIFA 20 lifecycle, Dutch legend Marco van Basten was completely eliminated from the game due to his use of a controversial phrase during a TV broadcast.
Also, in FIFA 19, Cristiano Ronaldo stopped being singled out or shown after allegations were made against him.
At this point, it's impossible to say what EA Sports will do with the inclusion of Ronaldinho as an Icon in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team, especially for a player so unanimously respected among football fans, but they're clearly not afraid to make tough decisions. What this will mean for the owners is still unknown.
