Elden Ring: Best early weapon for any build

Are you just starting your journey through the Inter-Earth? Here are the top 10 early weapons you can find in Elden Ring.

By the end of your stay in Elden Ring you will have a lot of weapons that you don't even know the secrets of, and many of these options will be perfect for your build. This is why in the first hours of the game it can be difficult to know which weapon is best or most suitable for your character.

We've picked out what we think are the top 10 weapons you can get in Elden Ring. Whether you're a samurai, knight, wizard, or anything in between:

The best early weapons in Elden Ring

From katanas, swords and daggers to staves, axes and seals, here are the top 10 early weapons to find in Elden Ring:

Bloodhound Fang

Bloodhound Fang is excellent for Dex builds.

The Fang of the Bloodhound is one of the best early Agility weapons you can find in Elden Ring. This curved greatsword inflicts passive bleeding and can be obtained by defeating Bloodhound Knight Darriwil.

It's a tough fight even though it happens early in the game. What makes combat more difficult is that you cannot call co-op partners or spirit ashes to help you. However, you can summon Bladed to help you take down Darryvil.

When you meet Bladed in the ruins of Mistwood, he will tell you that he is hunting Darryvil. Once this exchange has taken place, you can call the NPCs for help. Having Bladed by your side makes this boss fight a lot easier.

Two-Handed Hybrid Blade (Grafted Blade Greatsword)

A two-hander with a hybrid blade can last you the whole game.

The Hybrid Blade Two-Handed can be found in Castle Morne on the Weeping Peninsula. The sword is very similar to the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones and is surprisingly powerful for such an early game weapon.

When fully upgraded, it can even take you through NG+ if your build is right for the sword. The sword is a reward for killing the boss. Bastard Leonin (Lion Misbegotten).

Sword of Night and Flame

The Sword of Night and Flame has received a nerf, but is still incredibly powerful.

This is one of the best swords in the game for magical users. You will need to advance a bit to get it, as the sword is in Kariya Manor. You will need to jump off the ramparts to the lower part and then go through the open trap door to find it.

The sword has been weakened in the update, but remains one of the strongest items in the game for intelligence builds. Although it is still an early game weapon, you will need to defeat Rennalu.

reduvia

Reduvia deals bleeding damage that can destroy bosses and PVP enemies.

Don't lose sight of this little dagger, as reduvia can be a very useful weapon or primary weapon. The dagger will be dropped by the NPC Neridius, the Bloody Finger after he is killed. Luckily, Yura the samurai will show up to help you fight Nerijus, so the dagger will be relatively easy to get.

This is useful because it causes passive bleeding damage to enemies. It can really cut down on difficult boss fights. You can even just equip it as a secondary weapon, cause some bleed buildup, and then switch back to your primary weapon if you like.

Utigatana

The Uchigatana is a great choice for those looking for a powerful Dex weapon.

This katana is the starting point for samurai characters, but must be picked up by those who choose a different class. The sword can be found inside the stranded catacombs in Stormhill at the very beginning of the game.

This is especially useful for Dexterity and Intelligence builds that create a battle mage character.

Twinblade

Twinblade invites you to live out your Sith fantasies in Elden Ring.

If you want to channel your inner Darth Maul then Twinblade - great choice. It's a weapon based on agility, but one that can last you the entire game when upgraded with various War Ghosts.

It can be found in a chest in the Dragon Ruins, just keep an eye on Winged Dragon Eghillthat guards the area.

Claymore

Claymore is a Souls classic.

As any Souls veteran will tell you, the Claymore is one of the most balanced and reliable mid-weight swords in any FromSoftware game. You'll likely end up swapping it out for something more powerful, but the Claymore will serve you well in the early to mid game of Elden Ring if you're of the right build.

The sword stacks with Strength and Dexterity and can be found in the courtyard of Morne Castle next to a pile of burning corpses. It can also be filled with various ashes of war.

Big Ax

The Big Ax can be hard to get, but you can definitely get it if you're fast.

The Great Ax is a supremely powerful power weapon that can be found very early in the game. The ax is located in the chest of the first carriage you see being pulled by the giants near the gate to Stormvale Castle.

To stop the caravan, attack the giants to distract them, then go around the back and open the chest. You can kill giants and other guards, but be careful, you will be heavily outnumbered. Fast players will be able to catch the ax without getting into much of the fight.

The main thing is that the giants do not break the carriage carrying the ax. If they do, rest at the Place of Grace so that the whole caravan will respawn.

Meteor Staff

Here is the most amazing weapon in the game.

You'll need to get to Calydus to find this insanely powerful staff, but it's still relatively early in the game. Even if you just take it and get out of there. The weapon can be found in the swamp near Sellius' Crystal Tunnel and deals massive meteor damage when upgraded.

This is an absolute must for movie builds and can even be useful in NG+. While you're in the area, grab the Rotten Stray Ashes as well.

Dragon Communion Seal

Seal of Dragon Communion will make your spells deal more damage.

Those who pump Faith and use Dragon Communion spells will want this Seal as soon as possible. The good news is that it can be found at the very beginning of the game in Fringefolk Hero's Grave. You have to travel a long way to get it, but it's worth it!

This Seal does massive damage to Dragon Communion spells, so it's incredibly valuable to those who use such spells. You will need to use the Sword Stone Key to enter the dungeon.

So that's the full rundown of the best starting weapons in Elden Ring.
