While seasoned Souls players may already know exactly what build they're going to make in Elden Ring, new players can get overwhelmed and play the game like they would any another RPG. However, planning your build and sticking to it is important in Elden Ring, as it means you'll be able to handle any area and boss the game throws at you.

The starting class you choose will help you get the best start in the base build, but you can tweak it further after you start leveling up. Here's a breakdown of how Elden Ring builds work and some of the best ones you can use to dominate PVP and PVE.

Planning a build in Elden Ring

Instead of pumping all your stats the same way or getting hung up on one stat, it's worth knowing about soft limits. That's when it makes sense to stop leveling a certain attribute in Elden Ring and start leveling something else. The most significant soft settings start to hit around 50 points, at which point you really start to experience diminishing returns.

This will naturally bring players who venture into NG+ and beyond to the point where they can hit the soft cap for every stat. This essentially gives them a balanced build. However, doing this right from the start can lead to your character becoming a jack-of-all-trades and a jack-of-all-trades.

Therefore, most players choose to prioritize certain stats from the start, focusing on what suits their play style. There is always room to branch out later once you get your character where you originally intended. However, for your first playthrough, it's wise to plan your build from the start.

What stats should you boost?

We would recommend choosing two offensive stats and prioritizing at the beginning. It is also useful to choose one melee statistic (such as Strength or Dexterity) and one magical statistic (Intelligence or Faith). This way you will always have multiple options in difficult boss fights.

There's nothing worse than rebuilding your character just to take on one boss because your build isn't fit for battle.

Some stats work well with others, like Dexterity works well with Intelligence because it reduces casting time and means you always have ranged and melee attacks at your disposal.

A tank usually builds a level of Strength, Stamina, and Energy to make sure their character can wear heavy armor, lift powerful weapons, and take a lot of damage. Although it is also useful to put some points into Faith.

This is because Faith stacks with a lot of melee weapons and the player can use spells to pump themselves up before combat or inflict status ailments on their enemies.

If you're choosing a melee build, whether it's strength or agility, it's important to make sure you're using your FP for something. This is a powerful resource, so don't just ignore it. Make it work in a way that benefits your build.

Keep in mind that your build is as much dependent on the items you use as it is on your stats, but some weapon types complement certain stats. For example, katanas work best for building Dexterity, while greatswords work best with Strength.

With the above in mind, here are some of the best builds you can create in Elden Ring:

Build Bloodthirsty Vampire

There are multiple versions of this build, but our Elden Ring custom Vampire build has been very successful in PVP and PVE. It even made difficult bosses like Fire Giant and Malenia, much easier.

This won't be a build that you can take full advantage of for the rest of the game, but we'll walk you through exactly what needs to be done to get it.

To create it, focus your efforts on improving dexterity up to about 40 or 50. Make sure you also put some points into Vigor, Endurance и Arcane, this will benefit the build later and help you save a life.

You can pretty much ignore Strength and Intelligence, but we recommend leveling Faith и Mind. This will give you some Spells to lean on and Faith will stack with one of your weapons later on.

For armor, we would suggest something light. Royal Remains Pack can work well as not only does it not weigh much, but it also offers health regen when you are at low levels. The grinning skull mask will also make you look like a member of the undead.

You will need two swords to make this build work, one of which is Blasphemous Blade, obtained by killing Ricard. The second is "Rivers of Blood", obtained by killing Okina when he invades the Church of the Rest.

Blasphemous Blade stacks mostly with Faith, so your points will be put to good use. sword also heals you by killing enemies. This is combined with Rivers of Blood makes you a real Bloodthirsty Vampire!
