Fortnite: How to Make and Play Split Screen?
Here's how to do it and play split screen in Fortnite Battle Royale, which is available on PS4 and Xbox One.
Fortnite split screen feature has been added in the latest update, v11. thirty. We became aware of this feature a day before the release of the patch, as players noticed a support page for split screen with a guide on how to make and reproduce the split screen feature in Fortnite.

HOW TO MAKE / PLAY ON SPLIT SCREEN IN FORTNITE (PS4 / XBOX ONE)
In order to split screen while playing Fortnite, you will need either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Split screen for Fortnite does not work on PC or any other platforms and this is unlikely to change in the future.
In order to make Fortnite split screen, you will need a stable connection and two controllers. Just get to the Fortnite lobby and at the bottom of the lobby you will see a hint on how to make and play split screen.
On PlayStation 4, you hold the "X" button for player 2 to log in. You will see a similar prompt on Xbox One as well, by holding down the button it tells you on Xbox One.
As soon as you do this, the second player will log into the lobby with you. Player 1 is in control of the lobby, dressing room, etc. However, if you hold down the X key, player 2 can take control of the lobby.
When playing split screen on Fortnite, you will see black bars around the screen. Epic is still working on split-screen Fortnite, so we'll be using a better version of co-op in the future.
If you want to play Fortnite split screen today for the Star Wars event, you're out of luck.
Epic Games tweeted on the Fortnite Status Twitter page that split screen in Fortnite has been disabled due to issues. There haven't been any updates since, so it's unknown when the feature will return.
