Fortnite Could Potentially Add a Test Server for an Early Update

Fortnite Season XNUMX may see test servers for players to try out patches before they get the wide version, judging by a new play option in the Epic Games launcher.

Ever since Fortnite Chapter 2 was released back in October 2019, developers Epic Games have been under fire for not releasing comprehensive patch notes anymore. Although the first chapter of Fortnite featured full update notes and it was on a permanent basis.

It is expected that players will be forced to abandon the game if they see a change that they do not agree with, and the developers do not know what the reasons for this refusal are.

Regardless, players seem to largely prefer test servers, which will give them a chance to try out new additions before they jump into the full game.

A tweet from British pro player Benjamin 'benjyfishy' Fish revealed a new variant of the game alongside regular Fortnite called FortnitePublicTest.

This quickly created some excitement in the community as players interpreted it as an upcoming implementation of game-like test servers such as Rainbow Six: Siege, PUBG, and Overwatch.

Test servers allow developers to use a wider player base to test their changes, as well as get a better idea of community consensus on larger patches before moving on to the main game.

However, community sentiment was dampened as a professional player suggested that the test server might only be available to players participating in DreamHack Anaheim who would be playing a slightly different version of the game.

However, this did not stop players from expressing their desire to get a test server. It has been suggestedthat Epic gives players the opportunity to prepare for tournaments.

While it's not clear if there are plans for a public test server in Fortnite Chapter 2, the incident showed that there is definitely demand for it.

The Season 2 update is scheduled for February 20th so we can learn more.
