Fortnite - Season 6 Launches September 27th
6 season Fortnite already knocking on the door.
After much speculation - and a rather odd turn of events involving a mysterious purple cube that rolled across the island - Epic has finally confirmed when the new season of its massively popular battle royale will start, and it's very soon.
The developer announced on Twitter that Season 6 will begin on Thursday, September 27th. The season was supposed to start sometime this week as the official Fortnite website stated that Season 5 ends on September 25th and Epic usually kicks off a new season without delay. However, this is the first time the developer has confirmed that Season 6 will begin, though he hasn't added any further details.
You still have time to complete any remaining challenges and unlock the rest of the Season Pass 5 bonuses.
We don't know what to expect from Season 6 yet, but some strange events unfolding in the game are already hinting at changes. Back in August, lightning struck the desert and left behind a mysterious purple cube. The artifact reacts differently depending on how players affect it; standing next to him replenishes health, but hitting the cube deals damage.
Shortly after its materialization, the cube began to slowly roll across the Fortnite map. It was unclear what its purpose was, but last week the cube sank into Loot Lake and melted away, much to the surprise of fans. Not only did he turn the water purple, but now the entire lake has actually turned into a giant trampoline with the same elastic properties as the cube. It's unclear how all of this relates to Season 6, but it's not too long to wait!
