Guide to the summoner in Terraria 1.4.4: accessories, armor, weapons

Summoner (Summoner) in Terraria, a class added in version 1.2 and added in versions 1.2.4, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.4.4. Unlike other classes, the summoner does not deal damage directly, but with the help of summoned beings (for example, slugs, pygmies and hornets).

The Summoner is a unique and interesting character class that you will enjoy playing as and summoning your servants with great interest. This class is suitable for both beginners (if you are a beginner, I advise you to start with this class) and for veterans Terraria. As for me, this is the most exciting part of the game - playing as a summoner. You don't have to swing a rocket launcher, a sword or your magical staff to the left and to the right, everything is completely different here: you have to think. Yes, your summoned creatures will do most of it for you, but you need to be able to use it, because the summoner was awarded great skills, but not armor.

Beginning of the game

From the very beginning of the game, you are asked the question - “what to do? where are all the staves? At the very beginning of the game, the summoner was "protected" from the loot, hiding it very deeply, but there are a couple of solutions:

  1. Slug Staff
    - Drops extremely rarely from slugs, so you can forget about it. It's easier to take it on servers where there are all things, or on a similar map. If you want to feel Satanist summoner from the start of the game.
  2. Staff of the Finch
    - You can find it in the wooden chests of the giant trees that are on the map. Similar to the staff of the slug, but instead of green goo you will have a flying bird. Didn't find a staff? It doesn't matter - we follow the same way as with the staff of the slug.
  3. Staff of Flinx
    - we can find... stop, stop looking already! Maybe it's time to do something yourself? We take a dagger in our hands and go to the snowy biome in the ice cave to extract their wool from the Flinx. To create this staff, you will need: 10 gold / platinum ingots and 6 pieces of Flinx wool.
  4. Flinx fur coat
    - To create, you will need 10 silk, 8 fleece fur, 8 platinum. Here you will fully feel like a summoner with "Protection 1". If you're ready for your character's further humiliation, buckle up - we're taking off!
ps This outfit gives +5% damage to your creatures and +1 creature to summon.
  5. Leather whip
    — To become a real ♂dungeon master♂ and not die while your ♂slaves♂ protect you — immediately buy this whip and upgrade it later, it will protect you more than once. Purchased from the Zoologist.

Road to the Wall of Flesh (pre-hardmode)

After you felt humiliated and ♂fisting ass♂, but still decided to go ahead - well done! After all, there is more. At this stage of the game, the most interesting begins: big discoveries, and not so much.

Having mastered the world and the game - we go to get hearts (to increase the level of hp), prepare potions, bonfires - we will need all this. Well, after all of the above, with full confidence and full strength, we go into the jungle - to look for a hive.

  1. bee armor
    - To create a full set of this armor, you will need to kill the queen bee 2 times. My advice: make the staff first. Armor gives us: + 13% damage by our minions, +2 minions. As well as the set bonus is +10 damage by our minions.
  2. bee staff
    - Summons flying bees to protect you
  3. spike grip
Yes, that's what it's called now. A more improved version of the whip. Crafted with: 12 bee stingers, 3 jungle spores, 3 vines.

Path to ♂dungeon♂

After killing the eye of Cthulhu, the bee, the devourer of worlds / the brain of Cthulhu - you must go to the dungeon, which is guarded by the skeletonron, which you will deal with once or twice (well, maybe three ...). Then you need to pick up from there:

  1. Vertebral Loop
    - Kidding. Don't take it, make it. This, of course, is not a Pooja hook, but close to it. For this you will need: 90 bones and 55 cobwebs.
  2. Witch table
    — Here it is, the most favorite place for a true summoner! Gives a cool buff +1 creature for the whole 10 minutes! I advise you to always carry one such table with you, well, and put the second one somewhere at home (if you have one, of course).

Welcome to Hell…

No, I'm not talking about the initial game for the summoner. I'm talking about real hell! Yes, you are fully prepared for this... it's time to gather all your strength into a fist and go to hell to...

  1. Obsidian Armor
    - Obtain this armor. Wearing the full set increases minion damage by 43%, grants +1 minion, +50% whip speed and range. A full set of armor gives 15 defense. Cool, isn't it?
  2. Staff of devils
    - We dig hellish ore in hell, after which we create new friends from 17 ingots of hellish stone!

Well, then we go into hardmode, killing the wall of flesh. Get ready for adventure...

Hardmode. Start

You got out of hell alive and see how the world blooms with colors ... you enjoy the air, nature, the beauties of the game, but ... the game for the summoner is such that I again send you to the dungeon (yes, you will spend most of the game there, but it's also exciting ) for a long time, because this kit is quite difficult to assemble ...

  1. Spider armor
    - You need to find the location of the spiders on the map, which is quite difficult. Well, the process of knocking out this armor (AS FOR ME) - boring. The set itself gives 15 protection, it also increases damage from minions by 28% and +3 minions as a gift.
  2. Spider staff
    - Together with spider armor, we also make a staff of spiders. By the way, this is my favorite staff (I don't know why). Spiders are very strong on walls, so take note.
  3. Staff of the Spider Queen
    - Adds a spider queen to the location you hover over. The queen herself is motionless, but she shoots at enemies, which helps a lot (the number of minions does not affect the call).

I understand you, I'm already tired of being underground ... you can climb out! Now I advise you not to open your fist that you clenched earlier, but I advise you to buy a chair with a non-stick coating. Ahead of us are mech.bosses.

Yes, playing as a summoner, killing some bosses is difficult, because this class has no protection as such. Instead of defense, playing this class gives you a lot of support and good damage. Sometimes you have to sweat.

  1. Holy Shield
    - Crafted after killing the Twins / Destroyer / Skeletron. I think it makes no sense to describe the armor further - it gets better and better.
  2. Mechanical Staff
    - Did you think everything was so simple and in order? No, to craft this staff you will need a black lens (dropped by flying eyes. Rare). This is my second favorite staff, by the way. Best for mid game on any difficulty.

Let's not forget the whip. Now it can be updated.

  1. Petard
    - Dropped by killing Wall of Flesh, has a 12.5% drop rate. In expert mode: 25%
  2. Icy Whip
“If a firecracker didn’t fall in hell, don’t be upset. We craft this whip from 8 souls of light and night and 1 ice core. Hitting an enemy summons a snowflake that chases them and deals 10 damage on contact.
  3. Staff of Pirates
    - Much better damage than the Mechanical Staff. It may come in handy for you, but as for me, the Mechanical staff is many times better.

From Plantera to Cultists

You can immediately try to go to Plantera, but let's try our luck?
In order to experience it, you will need to go down to our favorite ice dungeons, where we were at the beginning and try to find in the ice chest

  1. Staff of the Ice Hydra
    - If you find this staff, then you can safely throw away the staff of the spider queen, you will no longer need it.

Now we can go to our beloved Plantera. For this I advise to have 500hp. We build a large square arena in the jungle, we put a fire in it, a heart lamp, we buff. Then we call her and run to the arena. I will say right away that the fight will not be as difficult as with mech bosses, but not as easy either.

  1. Tiki armor
    - After killing Plantera, run to the Witch Doctor and buy this set of armor. Yes, we are buying.
  2. Staff of the Pygmies
    - Dropped by Plantera with a 25% chance. 50% chance to drop in Expert. Don't be upset if it doesn't come out. At this stage, you will have a lot of choices. For convenience, I will write the damage of staffs. Damage: 34
  3. Blood Staff
    - This staff has a 20% chance to drop from the Bloody Nautilus in Hardmode (100% in Expert and Master modes). Nautilus is a blood moon mini-boss. Damage: 35
  4. Xeno Staff
    - Dropped from a flying saucer during the Martian Madness event. The drop rate is very low (11%). Damage: 36
  5. Staff of the Death Orb
    - Dropped by the Death Orb during the Solar Eclipse event. Damage: 50

Done with the staff? Excellent. You can again get a non-stick chair. Ahead of us is an optional boss - the Empress of Light. It is located in the holy lands. I must say right away that the boss is very difficult. However, good items fall from it, which we will need:

  1. Terraprism
Yes, it's a minion. Has 90 damage and is very strong
[!] WILL DROP 100% IF YOU DEFEAT THE BOSS IN THE AFTERNOON [!]
p.s. it's very difficult. do you need it?
  2. Kaleidoscope
    - 25% drop rate, cool whip with 180 damage. Is the best whip for the summoner
  3. Alisher morning Star
    - Dropped by Blue Armor Bones, Infernal Armor Bones, and Rusty Armor Skeletons in the Skeletron Dungeon.

Again, the Empress of Light is not a mandatory boss! If your nerves are dear to you, take care of them. After all the shenanigans, we are already coming to an end and calling the pumpkin moon

  1. Spooky Armor
    - Made from spooky wood. This is the ultimate summoner armor. Wearing a full set increases minion damage by 58% and +4 minions, +20% movement speed. A full set of armor gives 30 defense.

Cultists and the end of the game

Congratulations if you made it to the end of the game! We only have the Cultist and the Moon Lord left. Let's finish it!

After killing the Cultist, we are given (more precisely, you must make them yourself) two staffs:

  1. Starcage Staff
    - Summons an orb that will follow you and attack nearby enemies. The sphere teleports to the enemy at a distance of the shot and shoots smaller copies of itself, on hit it sticks to the enemy and deals 10 damage per tick for 5 seconds, the effect stacks. If a player deals damage to enemies in melee or ranged combat, they also release their projectiles at the affected target, flying ~ 10 blocks and disappearing without hitting the enemy. Can attack with melee attacks.*
  2. Star Dragon Staff
    - Summons a star dragon that will follow you and attack nearby enemies. He sees enemies through walls and can fly through them. If the player attempts to summon multiple dragons, the already summoned dragon will instead become longer and therefore stronger. Even though the star dragon's damage is lower than that of the star cell, it is still the best minion due to its attack speed and ability to circle around enemies.*

Having broken 4 altars, a ♂boss of the gym♂ aka Moon Lord stands in front of us. After my guide and your experience in the game, it seems to me that you will definitely defeat him, and become ...

  1. ♂full master♂
“Congratulations on passing as a summoner!”

Accessories / Potions

  1. Pygmy necklace
    - Increases the maximum number of minions (+1). Bought from the witch doctor before hardmode.
  2. Hercules beetle
    - Bought from the healer after killing Plantera. Increases minion attack by 15%, as well as increased minion knockback.
  3. Necromantic Scroll
    - Dropped during Pumpkin Moon from the Mourning Tree. Increases the number and strength of minions.
  4. Papyrus scarab
    - Increases max minions, damage and knockback. Crafted with Necromantic Scroll + Hercules Beetle.
  5. Summoner Emblem
    - Increases minion damage by 15%.
  6. Fire gauntlet
    - Increases melee damage and attack speed by 12%, increases knockback by 80%, adds fire damage to attacks. Adds an auto attack to a melee weapon. Crafted from: fur glove + magma stone.

Potions

I almost never use potions, for myself I would take:

  1. summoning potion
    - Increases the maximum number of minions by 1. Lasts 8 minutes.
  2. Potion of Regeneration
    - Increases health regeneration rate. Action time 8 minutes.
  3. Potion of Iron Skin
    - Gives 8 points of protection. Action time 8 minutes.

Would advise potions for damage / critical damage.
ps accessories can be set to your taste, I recommend these. If we recommend, then this does not mean that you should have 100% of the same ones.
