Gamedec - Beginners Guide

So you just downloaded GameDec, and now you're wondering what to do next. We have help for you with this guide to GameDec for beginners.

This guide will give you all the information you need to start solving cases and breaking your head, at least figuratively. Read on to become a master detective.

Beginner's Guide to Gamedec — Skills explained

GameDec - Statistics
Each line should represent how many times you gave this answer, but some of these groups seem a bit odd sometimes.

One of the most important elements gamedec, what you need to learn is the skill system. It may seem a bit confusing at first, but once you get the basics under control, it's a surprisingly intuitive system. Like most RPG mechanics, you get points which you can then spend on unlocking various skills, mostly affecting the options you can choose from in dialogue. The main difference here is how you score to unlock skills in the first place.

When you are talking to other characters in gamedec, you should notice that the symbol sometimes appears in the dialog box after you make a selection. These symbols correspond to one of four types of skill points, each of which is assigned to a kind of response. The diagram above details the different scores and the types of answers they are awarded for, although it is trial and error to figure out exactly which answers will get you the correct scores.

Different skills require different combinations of skill points, but be careful with these top skills. They can leave you lopsided in the points department.

How the deduction system works GameDec

Another integral system to master GameDec is a deduction system. It's literally how you make progress in the game, as it's a game mechanic that forces you to choose between different paths on a given occasion. Depending on the choices you make here, each case can take completely different directions. Because this can affect how well you do, it's important that you get through this system as quickly as possible.

First, the brain/synapse image you are looking at is a deduction panel. You use this to connect various information that you need to do in order to make progress on a case. The first screen that greets you is an overview of your current goals. For example, in the image below, the two goals you have are discovering Fredo's nickname and finding out where Fredo went after logging in. However, you should note that the second objective is only unlocked after the first is completed.

GameDec - Deductions
This part of the deductions menu presents you with a list of questions that you need to answer.

Once you click on the node, you will get a larger view of the target. The left side of the screen has all the clues you have collected for this purpose so far. If all the spaces on the left are filled, that means you have all the available information you can get, if not, there is still some sleuth somewhere in the level to find more clues. If possible, you should always try to get as much information as possible, as some information can be misleading without other clues to back it up.

On the right side of this page, you will see solutions that only become available when you have enough information to justify that choice. Once you have chosen the most likely solution to your current problem, select that answer by holding your cursor over it for a few seconds. Be careful here! Once you have made a choice, there is no going back. You will be blocked from trying any of the other paths unless you load a save. Make sure you have all the information you need before committing to a selection, or at least save it before making your deduction.

GameDec - Extended Deductions
Make sure you think about your decision before you make it, as you are locked into it.

Final tips

In addition to the two integral systems mentioned above, there are several other tips and tricks that can help you survive in the world. Game Dec.

Save often

If you want to experience everything the game has to offer, you need to make sure you don't make the wrong decisions. Saving before making important decisions or before paying for upgrades can prevent you from wasting your time or upgrade points and getting stuck.

Conversation is everything

When it comes to GameDec, no fight, at least not really. Sure, you can pull out your gun and just shoot some people, but whether it goes well or not is not something you control. Because of this, a lot of your agency is over how conversations play out. Don't just speed up the dialogue options, take the time to read them and come up with a good decision on how to proceed.

Actions have consequences

Like many narrative games, GameDec is a game where your choices will matter later. We're not talking about your upgrades though that's a factor, the decisions you make in your early cases will come back to haunt or help you in later cases. Make sure you don't side with someone or get in their way lightly or you might end up regretting it.
