About Cyberpunk: Project Orion
Project Orion is the temporary title of an as yet undisclosed production by Polish studio CD Projekt RED. The title is a sequel to the Cyberpunk 2077 game released in 2020. The player will once again find himself in a futuristic, dystopian world based on Mike Pondsmith's role-playing game.
Plot
Action Project Orion, like its predecessor, takes place in a dystopian future. The gaming world is dominated by mega-corporations waging wars among themselves for profit and influence. The ultra-capitalist system that has engulfed the world keeps the majority of the population in extreme poverty and leads to violence on the city streets that cost the lives of many citizens. Widespread cybernetic implants that increase the physical abilities of people slowly lead to cyberpsychosis, massacres and deaths at the hands of law enforcement. The player assumes the role of one of the citizens of this world, ie. the titular cyberpunk trying to survive in a brutal dystopia and become an urban legend.
Mechanics
Although not much information has been revealed about the production, it can be assumed that the gameplay expands on the mechanics introduced in Cyberpunk 2077. Again, we are dealing with an RPG game in which our decisions affect the lives of the characters we meet. The game world is open and filled with story missions, side quests, NPCs and various types of weapons.
A big role in the game is played by implants that can be installed in the so-called ripperdocks.. They increase our capabilities, m.in, giving super power, the ability to slow down time or blades mounted on our hands.. The game is characterized by freedom in terms of available builds - we can face enemies in open combat, use firearms, white weapons, hack opponents' implants, sneak past them or negotiate with npc to ensure a safe passage.
