Thunderlances from Attack on Titan have been added to Fortnite after update v24.20. This weapon was first seen in the anime/manga when the Scout Regiment got the better of Reiner Braun (Armored Titan). In the game, players will be able to use it to blow open structures and cause pure chaos on the battlefield.
However, it can be obtained by searching the chests and footlocks of the scout regiment. Although weapons can also be found on the ground as floor loot, spawn rates will be limited for sure. This will make it difficult to find weapons when needed.
How Thunder Lance will work in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4
The item, in theory, will allow players to penetrate armored structures and deliver powerful explosives through a wire-activated fuse. When detonated, it will explode and/or deal a lot of damage to structures/enemies in the area. However, given that the explosion will have a small AOE, players will likely have to be careful when using it at close range.
However, Thunder Spears will shake up the Fortnite Build Mode gameplay. Since the weapon is capable of destroying builds, both opponents and players must be mindful of its destructive power. Players can end up blowing up their own defenses if they're not careful.
Unlike ODM Gear, which has a set percentage of usage time, Thunder Spears relies solely on ammo to function. As long as players can find ammo for it, they can continue to fire the weapon at their pleasure. However, since missiles are hard to find in the game, using weapons sparingly is a better idea.
How will Thunder Spear change combat in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2?
Thunder Spear will allow players to sow destruction and devastation with high precision. Weapons can be used in both game modes to push opponents during fights. In Zero Build, they will have to spin or pin, while normally they will either have to use materials to build or risk being eliminated.
One of the best uses for this new weapon will be to force snipers and campers out of cover. With the Heavy Sniper Rifle's ability to one-shot targets, Thunder Spear can be used to suppress their fire and allow teammates to advance into their position.
In theory, combined with ODM Gear, Thunder Spears can be used to quickly flank opponents and pin them down from both sides. This would allow one teammate to push while the other provided fire suppression in the form of explosions.
Luckily, with armored walls and Port-A-Fort, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 has some breathing room. Players can use them to take cover from Thunder Spear attacks. However, it is best to use a mobility item such as Kinetic Bladeto get out of the blast radius. Only resort to hiding if escape is impossible or if the enemy has high ground.
