GeForce RTX 3080 20GB and RTX 3070 16GB Confirmed by Gigabyte
Yesterday we saw the official release of the first Ampere GPU, the GeForce RTX 3080, which users, lured by the positive reviews, will have to wait a very long time due to availability issues.
For those who fear that the 10GB and 8GB of VRAM in the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 respectively may not be enough for future games, we have some good news. Gigabyte official site where we can return the code for Watch Dogs: Legion , confirmed the existence of not only these models with two memory modules, but also the cheaper GeForce RTX 3060 with 8 GB of video memory. In total, five cards were discovered, previously undisclosed by Nvidia:
- ➤Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 (SUPER/Ti) AORUS Master 20GB (GV-308SAORUS M-20GD)
- ➤Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming OC 20GB (GV-308GAMING OC-20GD)
- ➤Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 (SUPER/Ti) AORUS Master 16GB (GV-307SAORUS M-16GD)
- ➤Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 (SUPER/Ti) Gaming OC 16GB (GV-3070SGAMING OC-16GD)
- ➤Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 (SUPER/Ti) Eagle OC 8GB (GV-3060SEAGLE OC-8GD)
Rumors about the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 went long time ago, but this time it's almost an official confirmation. From the list above, it follows that the GeForce RTX 3080 could get not only a 20GB version with GDDR6X memory, but also a more efficient Ti or SUPER variant that will be released after the launch of the rival AMD Radeon RX 6000 ( takes place official announcement on October 28 this year). Of course, the increase in VRAM will come with a price increase (perhaps $100-$200), which could affect the unprofitability of the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti / SUPER 16GB with 6144 CUDA cores, which will greatly outperform the GeForce RTX 3080 10GB with 8704 CUDA cores. This is not the first time, what is mentioned GeForce RTX 3060 Ti / SUPER, presumably with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, 256-bit bus and 448 GB/s bandwidth, the same as the more expensive GeForce RTX 3070. The difference will be mainly in the number of CUDA cores (4864 vs 5888).
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will go on sale at the end of October, while the GeForce RTX 3080 20GB, RTX 3080 20GB Ti/SUPER, and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti/SUPER 16GB may debut at the same time as AMD's Big Navi graphics card launches. Meanwhile, we look forward to the market launch and first tests of the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 (September 24; reviews likely the day before) and GeForce RTX 3070 (October 15; reviews likely the day before), which have been officially confirmed by Nvidia. At the end of the year we will be buried on GPUs based on the new architecture, and you should not complain about the choice in different price ranges - their low availability in stores will be a big problem.
