You can deal elemental damage by attacking enemies just like you would expect, but you can also combine elements for even more impact in MiHoYo free game.

In this guide Genshin impact we'll walk you through how elemental attacks work and list the many elements and elemental combinations the game has to offer.

How elements work in Genshin Impact

As you might expect, elemental damage is more powerful than standard damage on some enemies. Depending on the enemy and what element it is weak to, you need to prioritize some elemental attacks over others.

For example, you can use a Pyro's elemental attack against enemies weak to fire, or a hydro element against enemies weak to water.

Elemental attacks also have varying degrees of effectiveness depending on the environment around the enemies.

If your enemies are in water, using electro attacks will increase the effectiveness of the elemental attack, dealing electro damage over a period of time. The same can be said about the combination of Pyro with Dendro; if your enemies are surrounded by nature, using arsonists will cause burning over time.

Elemental Combos

As mentioned above, you can trigger elemental reactions by combining two or more elements. Below is a list of different combinations of elementals that you can perform in Genshin impact .

▫️ Burn = Dendro + Pyro - sets enemies on fire, the combination is effective against enemies with wooden shields;
▫️ Crystallize = Geo + Cryo, Electro, Hydro or Pyro - Gives a crystal shield that reduces damage from the original element;
▫️ Dust = Geo + Anemo - Knocks enemies back
▫️ Charged (Electro-Charged) = Electro + Hydro - imposes a debuff on the enemy and deals damage for a long time;
▫️ Fire storm = Pyro + Anemo - creates a fiery whirlpool
▫️ Freeze (Frozen) = Cryo + Hydro - Freezes an enemy
▫️ Magma) = Geo + Pyro - Applies a fire shield that burns enemies
▫️ Melting (Melt) = Cryo + Pyro - deals additional damage
▫️ Mud = Geo + Hydro - Slows enemy movement and attack speed.
▫️ Overloaded = Electro + Pyro - Initiates an AoE incendiary attack
▫️ Poison = Dendro + Hydro - Initiates an area poison attack
▫️ Crushing (Shatter) = Geo + Cryo - increases the chances of inflicting a critical attack
▫️ Superconductor = Cryo + Electro - Initiates an AoE cryo attack and reduces the enemy's physical resistance by 50%.
▫️ Swirl = Anemo + Cryo, Electro, Hydro or Pyro - Deals additional elemental damage and causes spread
▫️ Thorn = Geo + Dendro - Causes enemies to bleed and leaves sharp traps that deal damage
▫️ Evaporation = Hydro + Pyro - Deals additional damage

How to check a team member element

You can check which element is bound to a group member by looking at badge above their heads next to their names on the group selection screen.

Powerful group element combinations

Here are a few combinations of elements to look out for. To get the desired buff, your party must have characters with these elements.

▫️ enduring rock = Geo + Geo - Increases your party's interrupt resistance and increases attack damage by 15% while protected by a shield.
▫️ blazing flame = Pyro + Pyro - Reduces Cryo's influence on your party by 40% and increases attack by 25%.
▫️ soothing water = Hydro + Hydro - Reduces Pyro's impact on your party by 40% and increases healing by 30%.
▫️ rushing winds = Anemo + Anemo - Reduces your party's stamina cost by 15%, increases movement speed by 10%, and reduces skill cooldowns by 5%.
▫️ High voltage = Electro + Electro - Reduces Hydro's influence on your group by 40%, and Superconductivity, Overload, and Electro Charge have a 100% chance to generate an Electro Elemental Particle
▫️ Shattering ice = Cryo + Cryo - Reduces Electro's influence on your party by 40% and increases critical strike chance by 15% against enemies affected by Cryo.
▫️ Protective canopy = any four unique elements - increases resistance to all elements by 15%
