Genshin Impact - Guide to All Characters in the Game (Value Rating)

guide

Genshin Impact characters are the centerpiece of the game's combat component. Each of the 24 active characters is associated with an element (element) and has its own unique skills, weapons and passive bonuses.

guide

Just like your personal arsenal, the right group of characters will allow you to switch between members to create explosive elemental combos. Although you will only have a few heroes to start with, most of them will be earned through Genshin Impact loot boxes called Prayers.

How do you know if the character you just unlocked is the most valuable or a total failure? This is where this guide comes in handy. Below you will find a brief overview of each character and their main abilities. The characters are listed in order from the most valuable to the most lost. If you're looking to build the best matchup, you should follow this guide carefully, or if you just want to check how your favorite heroes are ranked so you can tell me in the comments where I'm wrong about them.

Venti

  • Element: Anemo (wind)
  • Weapon: Onion
  • Elemental Skill: Heavenly Sonnet summons a powerful upward gust of wind that launches enemies and keeps them in the air. In extreme cases, you can use it to take off up.
  • elemental explosion: Grand Ode to the Wind, fires a giant arrow of wind that sucks enemies in and deals damage while carrying them forward.

Venty is one of the most sought-after characters in Genshin Impact for good reason. Thanks to his two abilities, he can effectively stun a huge number of enemies for an unprecedented amount of time. It's good in any fight where you're outnumbered, but Sonnet of Heaven can also be useful for solving a few outdoor puzzles and makes climbing a bit easier. It is useful in almost any circumstance.

Diluc

  • Element: Pyro
  • Weapon: Two-handed swords
  • Elemental Skill: Blazing Onslaught deals Pyro damage and can trigger up to XNUMX times in a row.
  • elemental explosion: Dawn releases a phoenix that knocks enemies back and deals massive damage to Pyro. After that, his blade lights up so you can deal extra damage to Pyro.

Dilyuk is one of the best DPS (Damage Per Second) characters in Genshin Impact. With his two abilities, he can deal an absurd amount of damage (unless your opponents are Pyro resistant) and his normal attacks are quite brutal too. Stun your enemies with a character like Venty, switch to Diluc and watch them evaporate.

Fischl

  • Element: Electro
  • Weapons: Bow
  • Elemental Skill: The Nightwalker summons Fischl's Electric Crow to attack nearby enemies.
  • elemental explosion: Midnight Phantasmagoria transforms Fischl into her raven, greatly increasing her mobility and automatically dealing Electro damage to nearby enemies.

Fischl is good because of her usefulness and mobility. As a bow user, she usually fights from a safe distance, but it's often better to use Nightwalker and then switch to another character to focus on damage or queue up an elemental combo with Electro Raven's attacks. If you are surrounded or cornered, her Elemental Burst will allow you to quickly escape without taking damage. Both are extremely useful skills.

Qi qi

  • Element: Crio
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Adeptus: Herald of Ice deals cryo damage to all nearby enemies. If you attack them with normal attacks, Qi Qi will heal himself and his group.
  • elemental explosion: Adeptus: Keeper of Fortune marks nearby enemies and deals permanent Cryo damage. Similar to her Elemental Skill, attacking these enemies restores the health of the entire group.

Meet your new healer. Qi Qi is not only Cryo's best character, but her ability to regenerate massive amounts of health makes her an obvious choice for any team. Both of her Cryo abilities heal the group if she attacks enemies hit by them, but what's not immediately obvious is that the healing depends on the Qi Qi attack stat. Thus, load it with items that increase attack.

Jean

  • Element: Anemo (wind)
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Stormblade pulls enemies into itself and then launches them in the direction of her choice, dealing heavy damage to Anemo.
  • elemental explosion: The flower breeze creates a large area that knocks back enemies and deals damage and heals her and the group.

Genie is great, but Venty and Qi Qi are ahead of her in terms of utility. Her crowd control and healing just can't keep up with her, but she's a fantastic character if you don't have any of the above. Like Qi Qi, Jinn's elemental burst depends on her attack stat, so equip her with as many attack-boosting items as possible to really take advantage of her healing.

Keqing

  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Stellar Restoration throws an orb of electricity that sticks to everything it touches and deals damage. If you use this ability again, Ke Qing will teleport to that location and perform an Electro slash attack, or you can perform a charge attack to fire a series of Electro strikes at the marked location.
  • elemental explosion: Star Sword unleashes fury from Electro sword strikes that damage all enemies in front of Ke Qing.

Ke Qing is a great DPS character with good mobility thanks to his elemental skill. She can quickly dart around the battlefield or even scale rocks and other obstacles using Stellar Recovery. Her Elemental Burst also deals a lot of damage, making her a great addition to almost any group.

Traveler (Anemo)

  • Element: Anemo (wind)
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Whirlwind palm pulls enemies in and then knocks them back, dealing Anemo damage.
  • elemental explosion: An explosive tornado summons a tornado that rushes forward, consuming all enemies and dealing Anemo damage. It can be combined with other elements like Pyro to deal even more damage.

This is your main character when you play with Anemo (which can be done at the Statue of Seven in Mondstadt). You will start the game with these Anemo abilities and they will be pretty damn useful for a long time until you get access to the best Anemo characters. But until that day comes, Traveler will be extremely useful for creating high damage combos.

Xiangling

  • Element: Pyro
  • Weapons: Polearms
  • Elemental Skill: Goba's attack summons Xiang Ling, a magical panda that fires at enemies multiple times over the course of a few seconds.
  • Elemental Burst: Flamefire summons a spinning polearm engulfed in flames that circles around Xiang Ling, dealing massive damage to Pyro.

Xiang Ling is a fantastic Pyro DPS that only Dilyuk can beat. Her Elemental Burst can quickly engulf the entire battlefield in flames, and her quick spear attacks are terrible for enemies. The only downside is that Goba's Attack will take some positioning to use the ability effectively. The panda will always attack nearby enemies, but it's still easy to throw it the wrong way or make the action go out of its reach.

Raizor

  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Two-handed swords
  • Elemental Skill: Fang and Thunder is a little tricky. Pressing will unleash a quick Electro attack that temporarily grants you a seal that increases Razor's energy recharge rate. He can have three of them, with new ones replacing the oldest seal. Holding an attack unleashes a devastating storm that purifies all of Razor's seals and instantly transforms them into energy.
  • Elemental Burst: Lightning Fang envelops Razor in the spirit of a wolf, allowing him to quickly claw at opponents, dealing high Electro damage, as well as becoming immune to Electro's attacks.

Razor is a real beast, but only if you use his skills correctly. You need to always have three seals on the move, and then use them all at the same time to activate his Elemental Blast much faster. While he uses Lightning Fang, you will be able to deal great damage to a single enemy target. The only problem is that Razor doesn't stack well with other characters, making it difficult to create large elemental combos.

Xiao

  • Element: Anemo (wind)
  • Weapon: Polearm
  • Elemental Skill: The Lemnistic Wind Cyclone causes Xiao to run forward, dealing damage to enemies in his path. Can be used twice in a row and in the air.
  • elemental explosion: The Quintessence of Evil transforms Xiao into a monster, increasing his attack range and converting normal attack damage into Anemo damage. However, being in this form constantly drains Xiao's health.

Xiao has great mobility which is useful when exploring, but lacks DPS. However, he is still a beast, especially when using his Elemental Blast - you need to have a healer in your group who can tweak him afterwards so that he doesn't become a burden.

Mona

  • Element: Hydro
  • Weapons: Catalyst
  • Elemental Skill: Reflection of Terror summons a water phantom that taunts and damages enemies with water.
  • Elemental Burst: The Astral Phantasm traps large numbers of nearby enemies in illusory bubbles, rendering weaker enemies completely immobile. When attacking in a bubble, enemies are cursed and take more damage, but the bubble also bursts, dealing Hydro damage.

Mona gets a lot of style points and is also the only character that can run on water - so useful in some circumstances. Another thing that makes her incredibly useful is her Elemental Skill because it deals decent damage. This way you can switch to a flimsy DPS character and unleash a powerful elemental combo. The application of Mona will depend entirely on who you already have in your group.

Barbara

  • Element: Hydro
  • Weapons: Catalyst
  • Elemental Skill: Let There Be Snow causes Barbara's attacks to heal the group and also heals herself at regular intervals.
  • elemental explosion: The Shining Miracle heals Barbara and the party.

Barbara is one of several free characters in Genshin Impact and one of the first healers you'll likely get. Luckily, she is extremely competent and easy to use. Let There Be Snow is a great way to get a small amount of healing, but keep in mind that it makes Barbara wet, so Crio's attacks will freeze her. Radiant Miracle - Very useful as it heals a huge amount of damage for the whole group. However, both of the heals performed by these abilities depend on Barbara's health, so it's worth equipping her with XP-boosting items.

Traveler (Geo)

  • Element: Geo
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Starfall Sword summons a piece of earth that erupts upward, dealing Geo damage. It stays for a while, so you can either climb on it or use it to block enemy attacks.
  • Elemental Burst: Earthwake unleashes a shockwave of crystals that knock back enemies and then solidify at the outer edge of the area of effect, which can block attacks or obstruct enemies.

Once in Li Yue, you can change the elemental affinity of your main character to Geo. However, it's not really worth it, as none of these abilities stack with other elements. However, you still deal decent damage and your Elemental Burst does a great job of keeping the distance between you and your enemies. The Starfall Sword is also needed to solve a few puzzles in the open world, so you'll be switching to this version of your Traveler quite often anyway.

Kli

  • Element: Pyro
  • Weapon: Catalyst
  • Elemental Skill: The Bouncing Chatterbox is a bouncing bomb that sets enemies on fire before exploding into multiple small mines that explode when enemies approach.
  • Elemental Burst: Sparks and Bursts causes three fire lasers to blast enemies for ten seconds.

If you don't have a better Pyro character like Xiang Ling or Diluk, Klee is a pretty decent substitute. Her normal attacks are weak, but both of her abilities can deal high damage to a large number of enemies at the same time. Other than that, she's unremarkable.

Zhong Yun

  • Element: Crio
  • Weapon: Two-handed swords
  • Elemental Skill: Chong Hua's Hoarfrost creates a large field of frost that infuses normal attacks with Cryo damage.
  • Elemental Burst: The cloud star summons several giant ice spikes that smash enemies in a small area and launch them upwards.

Zhong Yun is a capable fighter who just lacks something special. He can cause a lot of trouble to enemies, but his Elemental Burst isn't all that useful. His Elemental Skill, on the other hand, is great for creating high damage combos or freezing groups of enemies. Use the ability and then use Zhong Yun's normal charged attack to strike and apply the Cryo effect, switch to the Hydro character and use Hydro's ability to freeze entire groups. This works great.

Bennett

  • Element: Pyro
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Passion Overload when tapped, performs a quick Pyro kick. If held, Bennet begins to charge. If released during the first attack phase, Bennet will attack enemies twice. During the second phase, Bennet attacks three times, the last attack causing a massive explosion.
  • elemental explosion: Fantastic journey makes Bennet jump on the enemy and attack, creating a large field of inspiration with various effects. Characters in the field that are below 70 percent health will regenerate health, and if characters are above 70 percent HP, they will gain an attack boost and deal Pyro damage with their basic attacks.

Bennet is a solid support character that is best used to support another DPS character to deal insane damage. After using his Elemental Burst, it's worth switching to a character that will benefit from Pyro's increased attack and damage, such as Ke Qing. Otherwise, Bennett is just an average fighter.

Keia

  • Element: Crio
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: Cold Lunge releases a cryo charge right in front of Keia.
  • Elemental Burst: Glacial Waltz surrounds Kaya with three spinning icicles, hitting enemies in their path.

Another one of the free characters, Keia, isn't all that useful. None of his abilities will help the rest of your group, so you'll quickly replace him.

Lisa

  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Catalyst
  • Elemental Skill: The purple arc can be quickly tapped to launch an Electro Orb that chases and hits enemies, or you can hold it down to charge a huge thunderstorm that deals a lot of Electro damage around Lisa.
  • elemental explosion: Thunder Rose summons a floating lamp that hits any enemy that gets close.

Like Keia, Lisa is another free character that you will replace as soon as you have someone better. Her Electro abilities are powerful, but her Elemental Skill needs to be charged for quite some time to be useful, making her extremely vulnerable. Otherwise, her normal attack damage is unimpressive.

Bay Doe

  • Element: Electro
  • Weapon: Two-handed swords
  • Elemental Skill: Call Tide, when pressed, performs a quick Electro strike. If held, Beido uses his two-handed sword as a shield. Each time an enemy attacks, this damage builds up and when released is directed at the enemies in front.
  • elemental explosion: Storm Breaker reduces damage taken. Her attacks cause chain lightning to jump between enemies.

Bei Dou's abilities sound cool on paper, but using her Elemental Skill effectively is surprisingly difficult. Correctly calculating the block time is not easy. It is better to use another character, because the best defense is an attack!

Ning Guang

  • Element: Geo
  • Weapons: Catalyst
  • Elemental Skill: Jade panel creates a giant barrier that blocks ranged attacks.
  • elemental explosion: The starship fires multiple crystal projectiles at enemies. If the Jade Panel is active, it will increase the number of projectiles fired.

Like Bei Dou, Ning Guang suffers from the fact that Genshin Impact's defensive play isn't very useful. Her Jade Panel can come in handy if you have archers on your flank, but this is situational. Though Starship is a cool ability.

Sucrose

  • Element: Anemo
  • Weapon: Catalyst
  • Elemental Skill: Unstable Hypnostatic Charge - 6308 is a hell of a name for the ability. Creates a small wind spirit that sucks enemies towards itself and deals Anemo damage.
  • Elemental Burst: Forbidden Creation - Isomer 75 Group II creates an even more powerful wind spirit that draws in enemies one at a time and then launches them far away. It will also react to other elements it touches, such as Pyro.

Ah, Sucrose, why do your ability names sound so stupid? At least they are somewhat useful. But other Anemo characters are much better at pulling enemies into an enclosed space, dealing a lot of damage.

Xingqiu

  • Element: Hydro
  • Weapon: Sword
  • Elemental Skill: The death rain summons multiple swords surrounding Xing Qiu. Every time he takes damage, one of the swords breaks.
  • elemental explosion: Rain Breaker creates more swords and makes them attack with you. They also automatically refill when broken, providing good damage mitigation.

At the risk of repeating myself, it needs to be said - defensive characters simply can't compete with offensive fighters. For the most part, Xing Qiu's abilities simply reduce some of the damage he takes during combat. But here's a better idea: don't get hit!

Noelle

  • Element: Geo
  • Weapon: Two-handed swords
  • Elemental Skill: Armored Apron encases Noelle in armor that absorbs damage and deals a small amount of Geo damage to enemies. When Noelle attacks while armored, she also has a small chance to restore HP to other party members.
  • Elemental Burst: General cleaning imbues Noelle's sword with the power of Geo. After the initial heavy hit, Noelle's normal attacks hit a much larger area, deal damage to Geo, and increase attack damage.

Noelle is fun to play if you're a bit bored. Her shield seems pretty useless as it's always better to avoid damage than tank it, and the chance to heal others is so small that you're better off using a good healer. However, her Elemental Burst ability is fun.

Ember

  • Element: Pyro
  • Weapon: Onion
  • Elemental Skill: Baron Bunny taunts enemies and explodes when destroyed or after the timer expires, dealing heavy damage to Pyro.
  • elemental explosion: Rain of Fire summons a shower of fire arrows.

Poor Amber. Nobody loves her. Check any Genshin Impact character rankings and she'll be at the very bottom. Why? Well... she's just useless. Early in the game, Ember will be useful for solving many environmental puzzles, because her arrows can be used to light long-range torches or shoot down flying targets. But if you have another archer, you won't need it. Both of her abilities are unimpressive, especially Baron Bunny. You can use much faster and more aggressive characters.
