Hydro Hypostasis Genshin Impact - Where to Find and How to Defeat the Water Cube

The Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis boss fight guide will explain the fight strategy, tricks and attacks, as well as everything you need to defeat the cube.

Everything you need to know about the new Hydro Hypostasis boss fight.

A high-level life form of the Hydro Element, codenamed "Heh".
Hypostasis have a strong instinct of rejection and will ruthlessly cast out anyone who dares to test it.
Rejection extends even to natural elements.‎

Hydro Hypostasis finally joins the weekly boss roster in version 2.1. Mihoyo introduced a new formidable water structure during preview Genshin Impact 2.1, and now the new version is finally out and you can risk the boss fight on Watatsumi Island.

Since this is Hydro's boss, you're bound to get your best Electro characters, so this will be the perfect training ground for Kujo Sarah и Shogun Raiden (Baal) . If you have upgraded cryo characters, they will come in handy too. Without further ado, here's where to find the Genshin Impact boss Hydro Hypostasisand how to defeat him in battle.

Where to Find Hydro Hypostasis

Location of hypostasis

Top right corner on the map

Hydro Hypostasis is located on Watatsumi Island, but finding exactly where it is can be a little tricky. After you unlock the statue of seven on the island, you can glide down the cliff to where the boss marker is, but once you get there, the entrance isn't easy to find. If you look at the side of the cliff facing the sea, you will find a small hole with a waterfall (pictured below) through which you will enter the boss arena.

Strategy and tactics of the battle of Hydro Hypostasis

Protected by a cubic carapace that is immune to the elements. Attacks are only effective when its elemental core is exposed. When HP is low, it splits into three crystalline water drops that move towards its core. Destroy these water drops in time to prevent Hydro Hypostasis from restoring.

Hydro Hypostasis has a lot more AoE attacks than other elemental versions of him, and in particular, you should beware of his attack when he tries to catch you in waves rolling from outside the arena. Like most other hypostases, your best chance of damaging it is by counterattacking between its attacks when the core is unprotected. You can also hit the core when the Water Cube forms a circle around itself and starts summoning dolphins from the ground. These attacks are fairly easy to dodge, so don't miss your chance to deal damage.

When you damage it enough, Hydro Hypostasis will summon three water drops (which are basically slimes) and you have to defeat them before they get to the core in the center of the arena. This is very easy with the Crio character at the forefront of attacks, as you can either fire one shot or freeze him in place. Once you remove those three drops, the fight is over. With the exception of Anemo, Hydro Hypostasis may actually be the easiest boss. Just keep an eye on his constant AoE attacks and you'll be fine.

Drop from Boss, Rewards for defeating Hydro Hypostasis

As with other Genshin Impact bosses, Hydro Hypostasis offers decent rewards. Here's what you can get:

  • Precious lapis lazuli Varunada,
  • Dew of renunciation
  • A piece of Varunada lapis lazuli,
  • Adventurer Experience,
  • Varunada lapis lazuli fragment
  • Lapis Lazuli Shard Varunada
  • Seeker of adventures,
  • The end of the gladiator
  • wandering band,
  • Berserk,
  • Exile
  • Water shaman.

The best squad composition for the battle with Hydro Hypostasis

Any character that deals damage to Electro will be perfect for this fight, be it Baal, Sarah, Ke Qing, or even just Electro Traveler. Cryo characters like Ayaka are also pretty good as they can freeze water drops in place and prevent them from healing the Boss.

Whatever your choice, don't bring Hydro characters with you, unless it's Barbara with her healing burst, as she will be useless for this boss.

And that's it for our guide to the fight against Hydro Hypostasis.
