Gigabyte Introduces New Video Card-Like SSD for Gamers
GIGABYTE AORUS XTREME Gen4 AIC SSD - 4.0TB PCIe 32 SSD with Dual Fan Cooling
Thanks to AMD processors, the PCI Express 4.0 standard has been around for a long time in the consumer segment, and there is no shortage of SSDs on the market that use it. However, until now there has been no solid-state drive that could fully exploit the possibilities offered by the new PCIe. The Taiwanese, or rather the well-known and respected company GIGABYTE, decided to change the situation. I'm talking about the AORUS XTREME Gen4 AIC SSD, which is a solid state media installed in a traditional PCI Express x16 slot on the motherboard instead of an M.2 connector. The Asian novelty offers a dizzying 32TB capacity, speeds up to 28GB/s and… an extensive dual-fan cooling system.
GIGABYTE AORUS XTREME Gen4 AIC SSD is actually an adapter for eight 4TB solid state drives each with an advanced cooling system.
GIGABYTE AORUS XTREME Gen4 AIC SSD is an offering of eight PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs based on Phison PS5018-E18 controllers in a RAID array. We are talking about an aluminum radiator with stiffeners, which is cooled by two fans, offering several modes of operation - from quiet to the most efficient. All this is completed by a perforated herring and a metal back. That means 32TB capacity with up to 28MB/s read and up to 000MB/s sequential write.
There are ten sensors on the laminate so that the user can see in real time the temperature of each of the eight SSDs in the Taiwanese adapter. The dedicated AORUS Storage Manager software allows you to check media status as well as changes in fan speed settings.
Release date, recommended price and warranty details have not yet been disclosed. One thing is for sure, this is not a product for the average consumer, and it's clear from the spec sheet that it won't be cheap.
