Jotunheim is one of the key regions of the Nine Kingdoms in God of war ragnarok. This is the last home of the ancient Etnar race.
It is also the last region of God of War (2018) where Kratos and Atreus finally arrive to scatter the ashes of Faye's beloved wife and mother.
Note: Minor spoilers for God of War Ragnarok follow. The reader is advised to exercise caution.
How to get to Jotunheim in God of War Ragnarok
To get to Jotunheim, players will simply need to start the fifth quest in the game, The Lost Sanctuary, part of the main Ragnarok campaign.
Quest details are below:
- The Lost Sanctuary starts right after Atreus meets Angrboda in Ironwood.
- Atreus must follow Angrboda in this quest along a mostly linear path.
- There are also several fights with Draugr. Angrboda will help Atreus in these battles.
- As with most of the game's chapters, there are also several collectibles that can be purchased here.
- This is the only time Jötunheim is available in the campaign, so be sure to explore the area well.
- Jotunheim can be explored after the end of the main campaign, in case players want to return to the region and collect all the missing achievements and collectibles tied to the area.
Who is Atreus in God of War Ragnarok?
“That was your father in hell… Is that what it means to be God? Does it always end like this? Sons kill their mothers… their fathers?”
Atreus, the son of Kratos and his late wife Faye, is a minor character in God of War Ragnarok.
Three years after the events of God of War (2018), Atreus enters the world again after the onset of Winter Fimbul, marking the foretold beginning of Ragnarok.
Atreus is now a teenager, he has mastered some of his abilities and is able to stand on his own.
The game also follows him as he reveals the prophecy and the fate of his other name, Loki.
Who is Angrboda in God of War Ragnarok?
Angrboda is a completely new character in the game. At the start of the game, little is known about her other than that she was a young female giant who survived the genocide of her kind at the hands of Thor and the Aesir gods led by Odin.
She is a key ally of Atreus and later an important friend.
