God of War Ragnarok Officially Announced During PS5 September Showcase
During the PlayStation 5 showcase, Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Santa Monica Studio officially announced the highly anticipated sequel to their 2018 hit game God of War Ragnarok.
When God of War was released back in 2018, players were blown away by the game's story, gameplay, and graphics. The game's ending teased the story more, as the story of Kratos' son (spoiler alert) was shown as a version of the Norse god Loki.
Unfortunately, nothing more has been revealed about the sequel to the game. Fans have been forced to sit in silence for years, waiting for a drop of information about the game in any form, in any form. Now the wait is over.
At the end of the Sony PS5 presentation, the sequel to God of War was officially announced, which stated that "Ragnarok is coming." The game is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5 in 2021.
At the moment, no details about the game are known. It will most likely continue all of the losing storylines that were in the first game, including the aforementioned "Loki" plot point.
In terms of what Ragnarok means, the word is Nordic in nature and essentially describes the end of the world or the apocalypse, for lack of a better word. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Ragnarok is "the final destruction of the world" after the battle between Aesir and Loki.
This could give us a major hint of what the game should be about. At this point, however, one can only guess how they adapt it.
If the game does come out next year, we hope to hear more about it in the next few months. With the help of a teaser, fans will surely want more.
