Half-Life 2 Gets Fan Remastered With Valve's Blessing
Half-Life 3 is still a gaming meme, but there's a chance the cycle will return in a different form. According to recent reports, Valve has blessed the developers of Half-Life 2: Update to create a full-fledged remaster.
Half-Life: Alyx briefly reassured players waiting for the return of the iconic FPS series. At least those who have VR headsets, but even they hope to meet Gordon Freeman as part of a new adventure. For now, they'll have to settle for Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection, a remastered version of the second installment in the series that has been spotted in the Steam database.
To be precise, it should be added that the name has been present in it for a long time. As early as May 2020, the data pack was seen to have been added to the project's still inactive website (via AI on Twitter), with the last update over a month ago. So why the sudden interest? All thanks to Tyler McVicker, who confirmed that Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection is being created with the blessing of Valve. The project is the responsibility of the creators of Half-Life 2: Update, a free 2015 mod that brought many fixes to the second Half-Life. The mod was so impressive that it officially made it to Steam and was well received by users.
I have been able to confirm this projects justice, being made by the former Half-Life 2: Update team.

A well-known youtuber had to confirm the truth of the project and its support from Valve, which will be discussed in the next article. So far, he has not provided any details, although the "compilation" title suggests that the developers will update not only the base version of HL2, but both episodes. Please note: this is not official information from the owner of Steam. While it's hard not to believe the existence of a remaster in the context of the platform's database entry, McVicker's reports are best treated with caution. We also emphasize that even if all of the above information is correct, this is not another "confirmation" that Half-Life 3 is in development. Unfortunately.
