homelander

John, more known as The Homelander, is the main antagonist of the Amazon series The Boys, serving as the main antagonist of Season 1 and one of the two main antagonists of Seasons 2 and 3 (along with Stormfront in the first and Soldier Boy in the second). He is also a recurring antagonist spin-off series The Boys Presents: Diabolical.

Homelander is the leader of The Seven, the strongest Supe in the world, and the sworn enemy of Billy Butcher, the leader of The Boys. With the face of a movie star and the power of a god, Homelander is considered the greatest superhero alive. Not only can he fly, but he has super hearing, super strength, and super durability far beyond most soups, and can see through anything except zinc with his X-ray vision, as well as the ability to burn and cut things by firing a red heat beam. energy from his eyes.

At first glance, he is affable, modest and sincere; chief scout, American treasure, God-fearing patriot, but just like mere mortals; even superheroes have secrets.

Detstvo

“You were supposed to be brought up in a home with a family that loved you. Not in a cold lab with doctors."
"And yet, I got excellent».
— Homelander's response to Jonah Vogelbaum's apology.

Homelander was born sometime in the spring of 1981 from the sperm of Soldier Boy, America's first and greatest superhero and unknown egg donor. Born with incredible abilities, he grew up in a laboratory and was surrounded by doctors like Jonah Vogelbaum, who named him John. For not having a real family, Vogelbaum noticed that John became violent, aggressive, and downright hateful. ("The Society of Self-Preservation").. Throughout his childhood, "John" underwent painful physical experiments and surgeries to test the true limits of his abilities. Some of these trials included having his hand pushed into a furnace, boiled alive, and forced to fight enhanced powers. Vought guards ("One plus one equals two"). He was also placed under rigorous mental training and was forced to sit for hours in front of a projector that displayed images that were chosen to shape his personality, such as the American flag, Jesus Christ, and a baseball game.

As a child, Homelander accidentally killed countless female tutors, most notably in March 1994 when he hugged a woman using too much force, breaking her spine and killing her instantly. While this behavior was usually motivated by resentment, this time it was isolation-induced depression. At some point during this period, he also developed a sociopathic alternate personality that helped him "get through the bad room".

Growing up, Homelander was a fan of Soldier Boy, having "watched all of his films hundreds of times". Homelander respected Soldier Boy for being the only other Supe who was "almost" as strong as him and idolized the latter as his hero, not knowing at the time that they were father and son.

Boys Present: Devilish

Joining the Seven
“The terrorists had a bomb. I tried to cover it with my body, but the explosion was too strong. Only Noir and I survived. I failed you all."
"Are you joking? You risked our lives for us! You are hero!"
“Thank you everyone. But those poor hostages, they were real heroes."
Homelander speaks to the press after his ill-fated first mission.

Years later, John became the new leader of the Seven; Vought's main superhero team, akin to DC Comics' Justice League. Introduced by Stan Edgar and Madeleine Stillwell to the public as "Domestic". After his introduction, Noir took the stage, immediately stealing much of the attention that John had brought in the spotlight to his and Stillwell's ire. Afterwards, Stillwell convinced John not to let Black Noir outdo him, but to just go for "Homelander". ("One plus one equals two")

Encounter with black noir

Homelander soon teams up with Noir on his first mission; stop a group of terrorists who have taken hostages at a chemical plant. Refusing to wait for Black Noir, Homelander immediately went inside and subdued the two terrorists, breaking one of them with his nose in the process. Then he ran into the others. When they refused to retreat, Homelander yanked their weapons out. However, one of the terrorists still held the hostage at gunpoint, despite the fact that the gun no longer worked. Homelander, horribly underestimating his abilities, used his heat vision to heat up the gun, causing it to explode, killing the hostage and destroying the man's arm. When the man's employee started yelling at him, he went crazy and put his hand over her mouth, accidentally ripping out her jaw. This leads to the hostages yelling at him and calling him a maniac, causing him to kill everyone in a fit of rage, leaving only one hostage still alive. Then black noir appeared in the doorway. Thinking that he would send him to Vought, Homelander attempted to kill Black Noir with his heat vision, accidentally bringing down the entire factory. ("One plus one equals two")

Pulling himself out of the rubble, Homelander saw the hostage crawl out of the rubble towards the still-living Black Noir. However, to Homelander's surprise, Noir coldly flicked the woman's neck, comforting her. Noir then helped Homelander come up with an excuse to cover up the failure of the mission. This event led to mutual respect and respect, eventually to a genuine friendship between them. However, Homelander's lack of control hardened him deeply and may have added to his already unstable mind. ("One plus one equals two")

Meeting with Becca Butcher

“My dad always said: Surround yourself with people smarter than you.
—Birthplace of Becky Butcher

Homelander met Becca Butcher at vought's private Christmas party in 2011. He spoke to Becca, Vought's new senior director of digital marketing, and said he loves the work she's done with his official Twitter profile. Before ending the conversation to see Queen Maeve, Homelander said that he would like to talk about her taking over the rest of his social media accounts. ("The Society of Self-Preservation").

Shortly after they meet, Homelander coerces Becca into having sex with him, eventually leading to Ryan's birth sometime in mid-2012. This event also set the course for the entire series as it fueled Billy Butcher's hatred of Supes and led to him forming The Boys. However, unbeknownst to Homelander and Butcher, Becca went to stay with Madeleine Stillwell and Jonah Vogelbaum after her pregnancy. They secretly kept Becca under witness protection, where she began raising her son Homener on her own.

First season

Assassination of the Mayor of Baltimore

"I found out about the V compound by accident"
— Baltimore Mayor Madeleine Stillwell

After learning that Baltimore's mayor knew about Compound V while spying on Stillwell, Homelander assured the chemical's existence remained a mystery, destroying his private jet, killing the mayor in the process, as well as his son, who was thrilled after receiving a poster autographed by his loved one. hero. Motherland itself. ("Name of the game").

After the murder

"Have you heard of the Mayor of Baltimore?"
"Yes Yes. I heard the plane go down"
— Madeleine Stillwell and Homelander

At an informal meeting, Homelander asks about Translucent's whereabouts. Stillwell gives a direct answer, saying that she doesn't know where he is yet. Afterwards, Stillwell makes a remark about Baltimore's mayor. Homelander tries to play her cool, but she knows he's the one who took the plane, mostly because of The Deep. The two of them discuss what Homelander is all about. The meeting ends with Stillwell calling the Seven's leader "clean" after which she successfully relieves Homelander ("Cherry").

Homelander, unhappy that The Deep decided to tell Stillwell about the destruction of the plane, asks for the presence of his comrade in the meeting room of The Seven Tower. There, they talk about the unfortunate choice to tell Stillwell about the traces of the laser beam on the jet that Deep made. Homelander makes his case clear: Depth keeps his mouth shut, or there will be no more Depth to smell him ("Cherry").

Search for translucent

Homelander travels to Crime Analytics and asks Anika about Translucent's last known whereabouts. She is initially unsure if she can share this information with him, to which Homelander replies bluntly, "I can do whatever I want." Anika receives the message and gives Homelander the information he wants ("Cherry").

Homelander flies ten blocks where translucent is expected. There he sees a van. Inside the van is one of The Boys, Frenchie. Homelander doesn't know he's an enemy, so he accidentally asks for his ID. Frenchie gives it to him, but refuses to let Homelander look at the back of the van. This makes him suspicious. Homelander decides to look with his x-ray vision anyway, only to see nothing there. Then there is an explosion a few blocks away, part of a plan to keep Homelander where Translucent actually is. Motherland then goes for it, flying towards the fire ("Cherry").

Mission with Queen Maeve

"You guys are real heroes"
— Motherland to the leader of the group special forces

Queen Maeve and Homelander go to a high-rise building where a sniper is hiding. The SWAT team is in position, but the arrival of two members of the Seven forces them to retreat. Homelander, with its impressive theatricality, praises law enforcement officers and calls them "real heroes". After that, Maeve and Homelander enter the building. Homelander kills the sniper by piercing him in the chest. To keep up with the looks, Homelander shoots Maeve's armor with a sniper pistol several times, just to make it look like they were under attack. first ("Get Some").

Race

“Who is ready to see the race? Applause for my A-Train boy. Okay, you fucking roosters."
- Homeland to race attendance

Homelander arrives at The Race just as Queen Maeve is giving an interview, getting him all the attention. He gives a speech to the audience, and after that he says, almost whispering, "You fucking roosters", showing his true feelings for everyone who is not a Super there. He and Maeve then strike up a conversation, and Homelander remembers the time they dated. He looks back with genuine joy and a sense of nostalgia. He even tries to approach her, and those present shout "kiss her!", but Maeve retreats. After the conversation is over, Homelander sees a strange man he vaguely recognizes looking at him in a strange way. They exchange glances ("Get Some").

After the Race ends, Homelander returns to the Seven Towers. There, he and Deep show the box to Stillwell. She opens it and sees the remains of Translucent. Homelander asks Deep what the box is made of, to which he replies "zinc", the only thing Homelander can't see through. Inside the box there is a message "COMING FOR YOU" which is basically a declaration of war ("Get Some").

Transoceanic Flight 37

"Motherland, are you going to save us?"
“Oh dear, of course I'm going to save you. You betcha!"
— Little girl and Motherland

When a Paris-Chicago transatlantic flight is hijacked by terrorists, Stillwell sees an opportunity to advance his recruiting program. While the plane is over international waters, she sends Maeve and Homelander to rescue the plane, believing that the successful rescue of the passengers means no congressman would dare vote against soups in the army. ("The female of the species").

Homelander and Maeve can easily get on a plane and kill terrorists to the applause of grateful passengers. However, when they enter the cockpit, they find another terrorist pointing a gun at the pilot, next to the dead co-pilot. Before the soups can stop him, the terrorist shoots the co-pilot. Homelander then uses his heat vision to kill the terrorist, inadvertently destroying flight controls in the process. Maeve approaches Homelander about trying to save the plane, but Homelander points out that he couldn't carry the plane without a solid surface to stand on. Homelander claims they can only leave the passengers to die. Maeve then turns to Homelander to save at least the mother and her daughter. Homelander refuses, saying that if they save some of the passengers and let the rest die, the few who survived will tell the world that the world's two greatest heroes did nothing to save the rest. Maeve, seeing no other choice, hugs Homelander and together they get off the plane and fly away. In the distance they see a plane falling towards the ocean ("The female of the species")..

Hours later, Homelander and Maeve are seen on the beach, where the wreckage of the plane is washed ashore. Maeve is truly grieving for the loss of passengers, meanwhile, Homelander decides to act and gives a speech to the news crews there, addressing the audience, saying that if superheroes were in the military's chain of command, the tragedy of Flight 37 would never have happened. By the end of the performance, everyone there was positively shouting "Homelander". In The XNUMXth Tower, Stillwell watched the speech on TV with a smirk on her face, knowing that in some way the Homelander had done its job. ("The female of the species").

Consequences of the tragedy

“We are here today to remember the victims of Transoceanic Flight 37, 123 daredevils lost in an instant, in a senseless act of violence.”
— Homelander delivering a speech at the funeral of the victims of Flight 37

At Seven Tower, A-Train tells Homelander that he killed his girlfriend Popclaw after she told some guys about Compound V. Homelander then told his colleague that he did the right thing by telling him. Homelander consoles A-Train, but not before making an ominous remark like "I'll always be watching you" ("Good for the Soul").

In a memorial to the victims of Flight 37, Homelander gives a speech mentioning each victim by name and job. Then Homelander mentions Susan Lopez and her daughter Maya, two people whom Maeve wanted to save. After that, she leaves. Rodina, having finished her speech, finds her sitting on a wooden bench. Maeve justifies her early departure from the memorial because she hates boring speeches. Homelander sits down at her side and tries to talk to her. He says that the only thing he loves about Maeve is that she takes the initiative. Towards the end of her pep talk, Maeve once again says that she hates boring speeches. Silence follows after the comment. (“Good for the soul”)..

Believe Expo

"Wasn't I chosen to save you? Isn't it my God-given goal to protect the United States of America? Psalm 58:10: “The righteous will rejoice when he sees revenge; He will wash his feet with the blood of the wicked!”
— Homelander giving a speech to the audience of Believe Expo

Homelander arrives at the festival and seconds later a huge crowd starts following him asking for photos and autographs. The Leader of the Seven simply waves and smiles at them, and immediately afterwards, he enters a secluded area where he can be alone. There, he asks Ashley Barrett where Stilwell is, to which she replies that the VP of Vought International is not there. ("Good for the soul").

Homelander then goes to Stillwell, who is taking her son Teddy to the pediatrician. Homelander wants to give a speech that speaks to the festival audience, focusing on the faith and "justice of John Wayne," while Stillwell wants a moderate speech that can make congressmen identify with themselves. When Homelander doesn't get what he wants, he says that Stillwell is running away from the discussion to "play a strong single mother" and that she is using the baby as an accessory. Stillwell simply replies that they need boundaries. Before leaving Homelander looks at the baby ("Good for the soul").

Homelander then returns to the festival and enters the VIP room. There he talks to Hughie Campbell, a friend of Starlight's. They talk for a short period of time. Ezekiel then says that everyone in the room will be re-baptized with the Motherland. One by one, the participants are re-baptized. In turn, Huey, Homelander asks if something happened to him because his blood pressure is 150/90. Huey just says he's afraid of water. Homelander then proceeds to rebaptize him, but this time it takes Homelander longer to get the contestant out of the water. Terrified, Hughie rises, nearly drowning. When the ceremony ends, Homelander leaves. ("Good for the Soul").

Homelander then gives a speech, but instead of following the script as ordered by Stillwell, he improvises by delivering a speech biased towards Christianity and patriotism, and everyone in the crowd cheers. The Homelander then flies low towards the crowd, making it look like a messianic symbol. ("Good for the Soul").

Back on CCTV, Stillwell notices Homelander watching her through the wall. She invites him in, mockingly asking if he is alone. She warns about the speech he made and makes him lie on the couch sucking on her breasts as a way to "tame" him ("Good for the soul").

Super in America

"So if I take you to a house you've never seen before, full of pictures of parents you've never met, toys you've never played with, books you've never read, and then asks you, how much this fake fucking bullshit means to you. How would you feel?
— Birthplace of Madeleine Stillwell

To further sell the idea of Supes to the military, Vought decided to make a reality show featuring members of the Seven. Homelander was then brought to a house he had never seen before and had to make up a story about his childhood there so the Vought team could film it and send it to a reality show. Homelander talked a lot about his "childhood", from baseball trophies to cakes. When he got to the bedroom, he saw the blanket he had actually used as a child, locked up in the lab. Triggering some painful memories, Homelander got angry and asked who put the blanket there, leaving right after.

Stillwell found the Homelander in the barn. Homelander explained to her why he didn't want to do commercials, but Stillwell managed to get him to change his mind by using Homelander's sexual attraction to her.

Nothing personal

"Sorry. The elevator was off. Hmm, you... You probably don't remember, hmm, we've met before. [Mesmer holds out his hand] Oh, I... I would never try to read you.
"Let's be clear. I don't know you and I don't want to. A-Train said you have some information."
— Mesmer "greets" Homelander

After meeting the Boys, Mesmer called A-Train and asked to see Homelander, saying he had some useful information. With his request answered, Mesmer goes to meet the Homelander on the rooftop. There, he shows Homelander spy photos of the people he was looking after, a French guy, a black guy, a skinny white guy, and a British guy. Mesmer then asked Homelander for a job with Vought, but Homelander just left without any promises ("The Innocents").

Reunion with the Seven

“It means that some of you have been a little out of sorts lately. Unstable. Unreliable. Frankly sloppy. Not you, Noir, you were great. But the rest of you... it's fair to say I'm disappointed."
— motherland to Seven

After looking at the photos of the Boys, he stops and sees one photo in particular. He realizes that Billy Butcher was the same guy who looked at him on Race of the Century, who turns out to be the man he met in 2011 while talking to his wife Becca at a private Christmas party. party Vought ("Society of self-preservation").

The seven, or at least the rest, were waiting for the A-Train. When he arrives, Homelander begins a reunion. Homelander criticizes The Seven for being unreliable and sloppy lately, with the exception of Black Noir as he takes orders very well lately. Homelander shows the Seven a picture of Huey, stating that Huey is responsible for Translucent's death by blackmailing Mesmer, Ezekiel, and Popclow. He tosses it to A-Train, who at first does not recognize Hughie until the photo is scaled down to show that it was from the moment they shook hands in that very room. Homelander also says that Hughie is targeting the Seven after Robin's death, blaming A-Train for it and seeking revenge. Starlight, after she got to know Huey, is Homelander's main target. Homelander begins to suspect Starlight of any possible involvement with The Boys' collaborators. After a tense confrontation in which Starlight feared for her life, Maeve was able to calm the angry Homelander by promising to take charge of Starlight and her future actions ("Self-Preservation Society")..

After the reunion, Homelander entered Stillwell's room. After Stillwell is done talking to the senator, she tells Homelander that they only need 3 votes to get the Seven into the army. Homelander asks if Stillwell remembers Becca Butcher, revealing that she was missing, presumed dead. Homelander asks what happened to her, however Stillwell says she assumed Becca just quit, which makes Homelander suspicious ("The Society of Self-Preservation").

Visiting Vogelbaum

"I'm the world's greatest superhero."
— Birthplace of Jonah Vogelbaum]

Homelander arrives at the mansions of John Vogelbaum, a former scientist at Vought, and begins talking to him. Homelander tries to be formal, he asks some irrelevant questions, but Vogelbaum is direct and asks Homelander what he really wants. Homelander then asks John about Rebecca Butcher. Jonah reveals that Becca came to Stillwell eight years ago after conceiving Homelander's child, confusing Homelander, who was under the impression that he was sexually impotent. He reveals that both Becca and the baby died on the delivery table due to the amount of blood loss. - Rodina to Team USA

Homelander then exits the building, but one of the attackers gets out and tries to escape. Homelander then simply uses his heat vision to split him in half. After he's finished, Homelander shows the captain a vial of Compound V. ("You found me").

Revealing the truth

“You promised me. No more lies. You fucking promised me. You and Vogelbaum had to tell your story straight."
— Birthplace of Madeleine Stillwell

At Vought's fundraiser, Homelander clashes with Stillwell over his findings from Vogelbaum. The two of them talk about Becky and Homelander's lost son. Afterwards, Homelander confesses that he planned for the Naqib to show up just as they needed to in order to get Congress to let them into the military. Homelander admits that he and A-Train used Compound V to reload the terrorists, much to Stillwell's shock. Homelander says there are Supes that only the Seven can currently fight across the globe. Stillwell brings Homelander to his office where they have intercourse, however Homelander seems to find the activity painful ("You Found Me").

Then, as Homelander and Stillwell are on the couch spending some time together, Stillwell tells Homelander that Mr. Edgar has offered her a job in the future, but Homelander worries if Madeleine will still be there for him day in and day out. They both promise to keep no more secrets from each other. Stillwell apologizes for not telling Homelander about her baby, as she wanted to put him out of pain. Stillwell says that Becca died of a miscarriage, which is different from what was said by Vogelbaum. Homelander understands this, arousing suspicion ("You Found Me").

Homelander arrives at his lover's house to find Billy Butcher, after placing a load of C4 explosives in Stillwell. Motherland brings Teddy in, however, believing that the Butcher will not put the child in danger. Homelander prods Butcher by showing off the sex he had with Becca. Homelander questions Billy's endgame, to which he reveals he just wants to hurt Homelander. Homelander then reveals that he returned to Vogelbaum after receiving the real truth from him - that Vought had placed Becca and her child in witness protection for the past eight years. Stillwell confesses to being afraid of Homelander, which he appreciates, kissing her one last time before shooting his laser vision through her eyes and head. Not so after The Butcher decides to release the trigger by detonating the explosives. ("You found me")».

After the explosion, the Butcher wakes up on the lawn. Confused, he sees Homelander standing over him. A woman with a child appears in the house next to them and goes to them. The butcher is shocked to see Becca alive with her baby. Homelander asks if the child knows who he is, however he reveals that he does not. "Yes, we do."
“I'm really sorry that I haven't been here enough. Ryan, I'd really like you to meet Stormfront. That's what I would do. She's someone I care about a lot, and, hmm... I think you do too. So I think we'll be around more. And much more. I want us to be a family."

Homelander then apologizes to Ryan for pushing him too far last time and promises to never do it again. Stormfront then meets Ryan and asks about his powers and tells him that he is the first born superhero. Becca, however, discourages her from talking about Ryan's powers and the states where Homelander should let her know the next time he wants to visit. Homelander explains to Stormfront that Becca doesn't want Ryan to speak or use his powers at all. Despite this, Homelander continues to state that he wants to be around more and he wants a family.

He is also my son

“You couldn't understand. I was raised just like him. The kid knows nothing about anything. When he sees the outside world, he panics. Now this is going to fuck him. I don't want my son to have to go through what I went through."
“His life… is different.”
- (sighs)
“He has a mother. And I know it means something to you. Yes. And if you take it away from me, it… this whole world will seem so confusing and scary.”
"Yeah, but Rebecca, you're... lying to him."
- Homelander and Becca on their side of the argument

Homelander, Stormfront, and Becca watch a Lego animation Ryan made of The Blindside, and Homelander and Stormfront pretend to be interested. They then both ask if he likes other "child stuff" like video games, YouTube, or one of the Homelander movies. Ryan then became interested in one of the Homelander films, however Becca says that when he gets older they will talk, but Homelander dismisses her claim saying that Ryan is old enough for these films. Homelander and Stormfront continue to call on Ryan, telling him things he hasn't heard about, ignoring Becky's comments about talking later. Becca then demands that Homener speak to her outside. Homelander agrees and leaves Ryan with Stormfront while he and Becca talk outside. Becca believes that Homelander is trying to take Ryan away from her or trying to turn him into something he is not, but Homelander states that deep down he has Ryan's best interests. He explains that he was raised exactly like Ryan and he knows that if Ryan finds out about the real world too late, it will ruin him. Homelander doesn't want his son to go through what he did. Becca tries to convince Homelander that Ryan is different and will not be like him because Ryan has a mother. Homelander then points out a flaw in Becky's argument that she is lying to Ryan and hiding the truth about the outside world from him. Becca states that it's for his own good and begs Homelander not to tell Ryan. Homelander thinks while Becca cries in front of him, nodding in response.

"The boy deserves to know the truth."
Homelander admitted that he told Ryan the truth

After Becca finishes cooking dinner, she finds Ryan outside with Homelander and Stormfront. Ryan calls Becca a liar, showing that they showed him the truth: the neighborhood is fake and there is a whole world outside the complex. Homelander does not deny this, saying that Ryan deserves to know the truth. After Becca fails to convince Ryan, Homelander then suggests that Ryan needs some space and come with him, to which Becca refuses and grabs Ryan. Ryan runs past Becky and jumps into the arms of Homelander as Homelander and Stormfront fly away.

How can you stay safe

Flanagan: Unfortunately, the likelihood of you experiencing a Superville attack is becoming more likely every day.
“But with a plan of action, you can drastically increase your chances of survival. And survival is all that matters."
- Homelander teaches school safety in instructional video

Homelander reappears in "What I Know" where he and Sheriff Ed Flanagan record teaching school kids how to stay safe in the event of a supervillain attack. They teach students to fall through a three-step protocol: LAW: Lock (all doors and windows), Hand (self and use whatever you can), and Wait (hero's arrival). They are then closed, instructing you to follow the protocol for your own safety.

Verification of facts

“So, noir is a vegetable, Lamplighter is a wood block, Starlight is somewhere in the wind, and are you okay with that?”
—Motherland

Homelander is standing in The Seven Tower watching a news article about the recent events that have taken place until Stormfront enters. He asks her about Noir, to which she explains that Noir is alive but unresponsive, possibly suffering from brain damage. Homelander expresses concern over recent events, however Stormfront assures him not to do so due to the attack on congressional hearings. Homelander then tries to figure out exactly who killed Vogelbaum. Narrowing down his search, he suggests it might be Mr. Edgar. Stormfront then tells him to relax because, despite the sacrifices, they are close to achieving their goal of creating Superman's army. Homelander asks her about "the wrong people", to which Stormfront tells him that "Fredrik had a solution for everything".

Adjustments

“Hey buddy. Sorry we had to leave you alone. A father's job can get pretty crazy sometimes."
- Homelander tries to spend time with his son

Homelander and Stormfront head to Ashley's office to check on Ryan. Homelander apologizes for leaving his son alone because his job requires him to be very busy. Homelander then suggests that they could play a game together, but tells him that he would rather memorize the US states. Homelander calls it unnecessary, but Ryan says what Becca taught him, always learn. Homelander's tone quickly changes when Ryan asks if he can call his mother. Before anyone can answer him, Stormfront intervenes, suggesting they go to Planet Vought's restaurant. Which Homelander approves of.

As they sit down at the table, Ryan is at first overjoyed until fans approach Homelander and Stormfront wanting to take pictures with them. Ryan starts to panic and becomes overwhelmed by the crowd. Homelander stops the photos and checks on Ryan. Ryan pleads with his mother, so Homelander carries his son out of the restaurant and flies away with him, leaving Stormfront at the restaurant.

Teaching moments

"You know, I remember my first time when I was in a crowd."
"Perhaps it didn't bother you."
“I was horrified. All these people are looking at me and reaching out their hand, trying to grab me and goading me to use my powers. I just… felt like I was… drowning.”
- Well, what would you do?
“Well, I took off. I flew away. They found me 80 miles down I-9. Crying out my little eyes."
- Motherland consoles own son

Stormfront tracks them down to a cabin and asks where Ryan is. Homelander tells her that Ryan is inside and wants to be alone, but Stormfront convinces him to go talk to Ryan, saying that he is the strongest man in the world. Homelander and Stormfront enter the cabin to find Ryan curled up on the couch with his back to them, naming the US states. Ryan apologizes for being scared, but Homelander reassures him that he screwed up and "should have known better". Ryan explains that there were too many people and Homelander still comforts him by telling his son when he first encountered the crowd. Homelander explains that he knows the feeling of "drowning" in the crowd, Ryan asks him what he did. Homelander confesses that he flew away and Vought found him 80 miles away crying. Ryan then asks Homelander if he's crying? Homelander admits that he does, but only occasionally because he is "the man". Homelander then suggests that perhaps Ryan will fly out next as well. Ryan then says that he can't be the same as his father. Homelander then tells Ryan that he didn't have anyone to teach him how to use his powers because everyone around him was too scared to get close to him, so he had to learn on his own. Homener then offers to be his son's teacher and show him how to use his powers. Ryan then hugs Homelander and Homelander hugs his son. Homelander looks up to see Stormfront smiling at him.

“Keep going, you get it. That's it, don't give up. That's it, that's it. Continue. A little more, a little more, you get it. (Exhale) Oh… hey, that's okay. You will get it, you will get it. Hmm… (mouths) I know what. Hmm, imagine, hmm... Well, sometimes it helps to imagine someone you hate. Fine? So try it."
"But at home, when I say 'hate', I have to put a quarter in a jar of swear words."
“Well, there is no jar of swear words here. So you can hate." (laughs)
"But I don't really hate anyone."
""
— Homelander tries to teach Ryan how to use his thermal vision

Homelander and Stormfront appear outside, encouraging Ryan as he attempts to use his heat vision on The Deep's figure. When Ryan fails, Homelander encourages him not to give up and then tries to teach him advice that will help. He tells Ryan that it helps to think of someone he hates, but Ryan insists that he doesn't hate anyone. Stormfront then intervenes and tells Ryan that he can't afford not to hate because they are "under attack". Homelander puts on a face of discomfort as Stormfront continues lecturing Ryan on the subject of "White genocide". He tries to ignore this and encourages Ryan to focus on using his heat vision to protect himself and the people he loves. Homelander then encourages her son to try again, but before he can finish his sentence, Stormfront interrupts when she learns her past has been leaked to the public.

Separation

"I heard you say 'Butcher'? What's happening?"
Dispatch(over comm): "Do you have a boy?"
“Where is my son? Where is my Son?"
- Homelander demands to know where Ryan is

Homelander and Ryan return to the cabin and watch the news about the Stormfront leak. As they watch, Ryan asks about the word "malpractice". Before Homelander can explain the definition, they are both stunned in pain when they hear Frenchy's distraction, which allows for frequencies in excess of 190 hertz. Homelander tells Ryan to stay in the cabin while he leaves to stop the signal, causing Ryan to cover his ears in pain. Homelander approaches the source of the frequency, Vought's ultrasonic speaker collection, and quickly destroys it with its heat vision.

When Homelander returns to the cabin, he finds Vought's seven mercenaries asking about the Butcher. He then hears them asking on their walkie-talkies if they've made the boy safe. Homener closes the cabin door and asks them, "Where is my son?" With no answer, Homelander splits him vertically in half with his heat vision and yells "Where's my son"?! After killing the men, Homelander emerges from the cabin covered in blood, and he prepares to prepare to search for Ryan.

Isolated and alone again

"-Go. Come here. Come. Ryan... Ryan. Come here".
[Ryan moves behind Butcher]: "No."
(chuckling) "He's mine. What, you're going to blow yourself up... to save the little shit that fucking killed your wife?"
"I promised".
"-Let it your way."
- Homelander demands that the Butcher give him

A bloodied Homelander flies in from the sky in the middle of the forest and sees Ryan's aftermath using his heat vision. He finds a charred, unresponsive and badly wounded Stormfront. Homelander kneels and tries to touch her, but stops. He clenches his fists and starts to sob a little. Homelander then asks Ryan if he was with the one who hurt Stormfront. Ryan explains that he didn't want to do it. Homelander gets up, moves, and tells Ryan to come to him. Ryan leaves and moves behind Butcher, who refuses to let Ryan go. Homelander silently laughs and demands that Billy turn him in because "He's mine." The butcher still refuses. Homelander sarcastically asks Billy if he's going to blow himself up again to save the boy who killed his wife. The Butcher still refuses, saying he promised Becca that he would protect Ryan.

Before Homelander can attack them, Queen Maeve intervenes and demands that Homelander leave them alone. Homelander wonders if he doesn't. Maeve shows him footage of him leaving the passengers of Flight 37 to die. She then blackmails him into letting Butcher and Ryan go, stop hunting Starlight, and leave her and Elena alone or she will release the footage. Homener then threatens to destroy everything and everyone if she does. Maeve challenges him, telling him to do it because everyone will see the monstrous lunatic he really is and no one will ever love him. Homelander begins to lose his mind as he begins to hear the crowd chanting his name in his head. He stands paralyzed and begins to cry as Butcher picks up Ryan and walks past him, leaving Homelander paralyzed with his emotions and thoughts.

First step into madness

“Thanks to the heroism of Queen Maeve and Starlight, Stormfront has been neutralized and is being held at an unknown location. I personally would like to apologize to Starlight, who has been wrongfully accused of sabotage and conspiracy. Welcome back to the team. And I know that you and Maeve are the two best, most loyal friends I could ever have. We are your heroes. We are here to serve and protect you. (disappearance): Stormfront's violation of this special relationship, this trust, is unacceptable and she will be punished. Justice will prevail".
- Homelander reluctantly gives public appeal

Homelander appears on a public announcement after being approached by Stan Edgar. Homelander speaks at the podium and says that Stormfront was imprisoned and wrongfully framed Starlight as a traitor. He then welcomes Starlight back to The Seven. He continues to thank Maeve and Starlight as his eyes twitch more and more with every word he says.

“I can do whatever I want. I can do anything... I want to. I can do... whatever I want. I can do whatever I want! I can do anything, damn it, I…want!”
—Motherland

Later, Homelander retreats to the roof of the Chrysler Building and vents his frustrations by masturbating without pants, exposing his bare buttocks, muttering and moaning as he descends into a frenzy.

Seven by 7 with Cameron Coleman

Some time later, Cameron Coleman reported on a segment on August 7, 2021 where Homelander fans rallied against the super terrorists, some even going so far as to form a human gate on the Mexican border, causing them to nearly die of thirst and hunger. In a segment dated September 7, 2021, Homelander was later seen reverting to his normal self where he made a grand appearance posing with civilians and fans at the opening of Vought-A-Burger. In the December 7, 2021 segment, Homelander was also seen live on Vought Tower giving a speech about trust and betrayal, vowing to restore the superhero image due to the Stormfront incident. It has also been a recurring theme on the show and has also been featured in various shots and commercials.

In a segment on January 7, 2022, Coleman revealed that Homelander made another public apology at Vought's international shareholder conference in a keynote address regarding his former relationship with Stormfront.

The third season

Revenge

Homelander does several interviews about how he fell in love with the wrong woman and didn't foresee Stormfront being a Nazi. This is a lie, as he still has some feelings for Stormfront and continues to visit her in the hospital.

The homeland becomes increasingly tense and unstable, lashing out at those around them. At the studio, Homelander runs into The Deep, who hugs him. Homelander seems embarrassed that The Deep had an interview slot on the show The Cameron Coleman Hour before him, but Deep explains that this is for his new books "Deeper". Homelander again tensely asks how he got the slot in front of him. Abyss tells Homelander that he is nobody and that he was never meant to be before him.

Stan invites Starlight and Homelander to a meeting in Vought to inform them that they will be co-captains of the Seven. Homelander resents having to share the attention.

Homelander confronts A-Train about getting fat, claiming that he is just eating away at his feelings and making Seven and him look bad. Homelander seems to be taking his bad mood from the second captain onto the others. A-Train mumbles "Fuck you. under his breath", causing Homelander to grab the back of his head and yell at him to repeat what he said, all the while threatening him with his laser eyes.

"The only person in the sky"

It's Homelander's birthday and he goes to visit Stormfront, who can barely breathe or speak. He asks her to wish him a happy birthday, but to no avail.

He is later sent to help rescue Chelsea's girlfriend, who is about to commit suicide by jumping off a building. He initially tries to explain how pointless her jumping is, as he could have easily caught her. However, a news video plays on a nearby building announcing that Stormfront has died by suicide. Homelander notices this, shocked that the love of his life seemingly killed herself on his "birthday" as well. After a while, he rants to Chelsea about not having a real birthday because he was "poured out of a test tube". He only continues to fall into his ravings when he compares himself to Jesus, wondering how fair it is that “(people) are saved while beautiful и perfect God (meaning Stormfront) is dying." Upset, he tells Chelsea that maybe she should jump after all, but Chelsea changes her mind and says she doesn't want to anymore. Blinded by his rage, he threatens her by flashing laser eyes at her, indicating that if she doesn't kill herself; he will force her or give her a fate worse than death. The mutilated body is seen falling onto the pavement; exploded in blood afterward, implying that she may have been hit by Homelander before falling off the roof.

There's a big Homelander birthday special on American Hero. A man in the hall will shout on a special one: “Motherland, your Nazi is dead!”, trying to upset him. Starlight tells the viewers that everyone, including Homelander, makes mistakes and that he deserves a second chance before moving on to Starlight House. She tells the audience that Homelander is going to donate $10 million to Starlight house, but he interrupts her by repeatedly saying No. Homelander tells the audience that he doesn't make mistakes and that he's better than everyone else, going on a lengthy rant about how the audience needs him - needs him to save them.

"Barbary Coast"

“You know what I've been reading about lately? Dr. Martin Luther King. Well, my relationship with King has deepened lately. He was, uh, a villain. Persecuted. He spoke the truth to the authorities. Same as me. This is madness. But... we were both on top of the mountain and saw the promised land. I showed people the real me and they loved me for it. I mean they fucking loved me. If I had known about this before. It's always been like this, there are so many things I want to do, and now I can finally do them all. And no one can stop me. Nobody. Finally free. Finally free."
—Motherland

Homelander learns, to everyone's surprise, that his ratings have gone up since his TV rant. His fans think he is confident and uncompromising.

Homelander forces Starlight to choose The Deep as one of the new members of The Seven. She succumbs after many back and forth. To celebrate, Homelander invites The Deep to a seafood feast. Homelander tells everyone that no one can stop him now that he knows people love him for him - "Finally free," he says. He brings a live octopus named Timothy to the Abyss. The Abyss tells him that Timothy is his friend and he can't. Homelander tells him to eat Timothy, to The Deep's dismay, but fearing the consequences of not following Homelander's orders, The Deep obeys, much to his wife's delight.

After the new members of The Seven are announced, Homelander unexpectedly announces that he and Starlight are also an item and are in love with #HomeLight. They kiss on screen.

“Glorious Five Year Plan”

Ashley informs Homelander that Victoria Neumann is holding a press conference about him. He tells her to find out what's going on. Homeland manages to convince Victoria to turn not against him, but rather against her adoptive father, Stan Edgar. Victoria exposes Stan at a press conference, and Homelander pays her a visit, praising her decision to support "kind of" Supes. Stan is forced to resign, paving the way for Homelander to become the de facto head of Vought.

“Last time to look at this world of lies”

Homelander is now at the helm. He tells the board to promote Ashley to CEO, knowing she will support him.

When news of a supervillain (Soldier Boy) breaks, Starlight tells Homelander that they need to deal with the situation directly. Homelander tells Ashley to book news channels to tell everyone there is nothing to worry about.

Homelander confronts Maeve about betraying him because he smells The Butcher throughout her. She tells him that he is crazy and doesn't know what he is talking about. He asks her if their love was real, and she tells him that from the very beginning she hated him - and, moreover, felt sorry for him. She turns around and Black Noir attacks her.

"Gerogasm"

Homelander is in the Crime Analytics room, reviewing the camera footage of the Boy Soldier leaving after killing the Crimson Countess. He snaps at Ashley after she offers to hold a press conference to reassure the public that everything is under control.

Homelander tells Noir about his stress over Soldier Boy's recent activities. Receiving no response, he pats Noir on the shoulder, praises him as his only friend, and then leaves.

Alone in his private rest, his reflection in the mirror starts talking to him. He expresses his misgivings about being defeated by Soldier Boy and asks himself if taking over the company was the right call. His mirror self convinces him that "he" will get them out of trouble just like "he" always did when they were young. Homelander confesses the true reason behind the rebellion against Stan Edgar: the desire to be loved and admired. "He" also blames the failed "relationship" on Homelander and his need for affection from his human side, which the reflection sees as a cancer that must be removed in order for Homelander to be free and clean.

Later, Homelander goes to the T&T twins' home to find Soldier Boy to kill him. He confronts the Soldier and the Butcher in a ruined building, quickly incapacitating the Butcher with his heat vision. Unbeknownst to him, Butcher received an injection of Temp V and is still alive. Homelander confesses his previous admiration for Soldier Boy due to his near-equal skill, but Soldier Boy mocks him and brands him as a "cheap fucking fake". Homelander calmly replies, "Oh no, I'm an upgrade" before attacking Soldier Boy.

Homeland soon gains the upper hand on their opponent, pinning Soldier Boy against the wall with prejudice. A newly awakened Butcher helps the Boy Soldier, and with the arrival of Hughie, the tide of the battle momentarily turns and they manage to momentarily pin down Homelander. Homelander fights vigorously free and escapes through the roof.

"Here comes a candle to light you in bed"

concealer to cover the bruise. Homelander explains how Soldier Boy incinerates V from the bodies of some Supers and that this can happen to any of them. She tells him that he is the only one of them who cares about being Super. He tells her that he has always dreamed of having children with Maeve and that he plans to collect her eggs.

Homelander speaks to the crowd about Starlight, claiming that she is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The audience applauds in support of Homelander. He condemns the media. He thinks he sees a Soldier and his eyes light up. He tells the crowd that he loves them and leaves. He finds a cow at the farmhouse and milks it. He drinks milk. Victoria Neumann finds and confronts him. She ridicules him for his speech and sternly advises him to collect his thoughts. Tightening his hand, Homelander lashes out and grabs her by the throat, daring to move on. She manages to convince him that she can be a worthy ally by giving him a letter.

Homelander finds Starlight in Vought and tells her to retract everything she said on TV. He tells her that fame is the only thing that protects her. He warns her what will happen to Huey now that she has betrayed him. She tells him that he was recording it for his 190 million viewers and he tells her that she shouldn't be recording while they are "running".

Homelander argues with Ashley over the phone about a secret Starlight recording. He receives a call from Soldier Boy, who tells him that the situation has changed. He tells Homelander that he realized that Homelander is actually his son because back in 1980 he placed his sperm in a cup in the lab. In 1981, a child was born from this sperm - Homelander.

“Instant White Hot Wildlife”

Homelander finds Ryan using documents obtained from Victoria Neumann and completes his fast-improving fastball. Grace runs outside and tells him to stay away, but Homelander tells her that he just wants to see Ryan. Ryan asks Homelander if he is mad at him for what he did, and Homelander, in a rare moment of nobility, comforts Ryan over his guilt. He tells Ryan that their incredible strength sometimes causes accidents and that Homelander understands this and will always love Ryan despite them. Ryan hugs him.

Homelander sits in his room, watching his numbers drop in response to Maeve's imprisonment, until Ashley interrupts him to explain that Maeve has run away. Black Noir then returns and Homelander hugs him, relieved by his return. Homelander later meets with Noir as they prepare for the Soldier's arrival. Homelander confesses to Noire that Soldier Boy is his father and asks what he was like. When Noir vaguely replies that his father was bad, Homelander confronts Noir, asking if Noir always knew who his father was. When Noir nods, Homelander yells that he really has been lied to all his life this whole time. Homelander punches Noir in the stomach and rips out his intestines. Homelander notes that Noir should have told the truth sooner before he leaves Noir to die.

Homelander then meets up with his only remaining allies: Ashley, The Deep, and A-Train. The Abyss tries to plot that they can use Noir as bait, but Homelander reveals that he killed Noir for keeping secrets. Homelander states that he always wanted a family and a team, but was instead stuck with them. When Deep offers to help, Homelander asks The Deep to kill Lamar Bishop, a vice presidential candidate as part of his agreement with Victoria Neumann. He then humiliates Ashley by ordering her to take off her wig. He then turns to A-Train and questions A-Train's loyalty after he killed Blue Hawk and how he could have killed one of his kind, his hypocrisy is shown by Noirs' mask propped up on a table. Homelander reminds them that Noir was worth more than all of them put together and that neither of them is immune to his wrath if they betray him.

Homelander runs into the Butcher, Queen Maeve, and Soldier Boy at Vought's Tower. Homelander reveals that he already killed Noir and he just wants to talk. Homelander states the situation that together with Him and the Soldier, Boy would be unstoppable. When Soldier Boy is not convinced, Homelander takes Ryan out in front of the trio, much to Butcher's dismay. Ryan greets his grandfather and Homelander insists that the three of them can be a real family and never be alone again. The Boy Soldier seems moved, wishing he could raise Homelander better than he could, but instead he harshly chides Homelander and holds him back for an explosion along with Maeve and Butcher. Homelander, seemingly unwilling to fight, is saved by Ryan, who attacks Soldier Boy with his heat vision. Homelander still doesn't resist Maeve or Butcher, instead urging Ryan to run upstairs, away from the fighting. The Boy Soldier comes to his senses and brutally slams Ryan unconscious against the wall, while Homelander rushes to tend to him. Soldier Boy prepares to blast both a distraught Homelander and an injured Ryan, but Butcher attacks him, giving Homelander enough time to turn around and violently blast Soldier Boy out of the room.

As fighting broke out between Soldier Boy and Butcher's crew, Homelander ended up courting Ryan before turning to resolve the situation. He gets hit by Queen Maeve but insists on not fighting right now because Soldier Boy is a big threat but Maeve only keeps attacking him. He defends himself while insisting that she stop with growing anger. Eventually, she hits him hard enough that his nose bleeds. He is forced to incapacitate her and quickly gouges out one of her eyes. Maeve then stabs Homelander's eardrum with a metal straw and stuns Homelander. She stops fighting as she fights the dangerously nuclear Boy Soldier from the building, ending the long-running spectacle. Homelander regroups with Ryan after a silent standoff with Butcher and Ryan leaves with his father.

Homelander shows up at the rally and introduces his son Ryan to the crowd. The crowd cheers for both of them until a vocal Starlight supporter loudly denounces Homelander as a fascist and throws a can at them. He hits Ryan and Homelander immediately defends Ryan before finding the man. Furious at the man's protest, Homelander splashes him on the spot. After a stunned silence, the crowd slowly begins to applaud Homelander. Homelander looks restless, but eventually smiles at the crowd.

Appearance

Homelander is a tall man with blond hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. He wears a costume reminiscent of Superman and Captain America, echoing the mix between both taken from the comics. Homelander wears red gloves and boots, and has gold shoulder pads and wrist protectors, as well as a cape that symbolizes America, symbolizing patriotism.

Homelander's costume is apparently the only outfit he wears, any appearances without the costume showed Homelander completely naked, further solidifying his distinct identity compared to other Supes. His costume also gives him the appearance of being more muscular than he actually is, as when he is seen not wearing it, he is actually quite skinny.
