Fortnite Players Call To Loosen Superhero Stealth Skin
Fortnite players have discovered a major flaw in the customizable superhero skin, and now they want it to be nerfed or removed from the game entirely.
Epic Games' popular battle royale has always offered some of the best downloadable skins in gaming, with recent additions including Halo's Master Chief, The Walking Dead's Daryl and, of course, The Mandalorian.
These skins, as well as various other cosmetic items such as pickaxes and gliders, have always been included on the grounds that they "provide no competitive edge" in Fortnite, meaning they are purely visual additions.
But the customizable superhero skin that was introduced in season 4 has now been called "not fair" by fans, as turning the skin black means players can gain an advantage by staying hidden in the shadows.
In a thread titled "Do you think black superhero skins need a nerf?" on reddit user Pricytoaster made the problem simple snapshot screen.
The picture was taken during a match when an opponent in an all-black superhero skin was hidden in a corner of the house. Because of the shadows, they could not be seen, which gave them an excellent opportunity to stealthily eliminate other players.
The thread in question has generated hundreds of complaints from other Fortnite players who are experiencing the same issue, with many of them calling for Epic to nerf the skin to keep the game fair for everyone.
“This is blatantly unfair and beneficial,” wrote one frustrated player. Another added: “Remove this immediately! White or black superhero skins spoil the fun with their camouflage potential.”
The issue is especially relevant for those who play Fortnite on consoles as they don't have an option to disable shadows in the graphics settings. All-white skins were also a problem in snowy areas.
We assume that Epic will address this issue at some point, especially if players keep talking about it. Some have suggested that the outfit could be outlined in a different color to match the style of superhero comics.
“They should just give it a white outline or something,” wrote one Fortnite player, to which another responded, “That would be pretty cool actually. I sincerely think it will look better on the skin.”
Some fans had a more cynical take on why the skin hadn't been changed yet, with one saying "I think the main reason Epic isn't nerfing the skin is because this black style brings them so much money."
We'll have to wait and see if Epic nerfs the customizable superhero skin or allows players to continue to use it to their advantage. It would be a pity if it was completely removed, so we hope it gets adjusted a bit instead.
