Fortnite players are convinced that the Open World Mode is just around the corner.
Fresh leaks from Fortnite Season 17 have revealed new artwork for a mysterious playlist that has convinced fans that an open world mode is on the way.
When Fortnite first launched, it did it with Save The World and nothing else. Soon the battle royale component was added to the game and took the gaming industry by storm. Nowadays, this is what this hugely successful game is known for.
But this is subject to change as recent leaks have shown that something entirely new is in the works.
Fortnite developers, as first revealed in the Epic Games v. Apple lawsuit, have been experimenting with the concept « sandbox mode for open world simulators ». This project aims to launch a hit "beyond" the genre battle royale, said HYPEX, Leading Fortnite Insider .
Now brand new art has slipped through the cracks, implying this open-world-style mode could be coming soon.

Currently labeled as a limited-time mode, Epic secretly updated the Saturn_Test file in the Fortnite code on August 10th. famous liquor Fortnite iFireMonkey quickly discovered what this update was for.
Fortnite files have new skins for the mode. This illustration shows four characters standing together with a variety of weapons in their hands, apparently ready to fight off an incoming attack.
Banana holds a magic staff, Jonesy holds a sword, Karas holds a spear and shield, and the Hug Team Leader holds a bow and arrows. It is not known exactly what they are preparing for, although many believe that this image is related to the open world project Epic.
When asked what they thought the discovered cutscene was, the most common responses were "open world" or "survival RPG" modes. “This is probably why [patch] 17.40 was tested 706 times,” one player suggested.
We now have 2 teasers, we can see:

However, since we only have pictures at the moment, a lot of unique features have been suggested. From a crossover with Clash of Clans to a potential MOBA game, something completely different awaits us.
As more and more leaks leak through the cracks, time will tell if the proposed open world project will ever see the light of day. Though it certainly seems like Epic is gearing up for something big.
