Valorant Rank System Change - Who Are The Radiants?
This ranking system continues to evolve and change. Riot Games promises to make improvements to the game based on our feedback and suggestions.
Following a mysterious event that has affected the entire Earth in the near future, known as the First Light, select individuals across the globe begin to acquire abilities stemming from this massive event. These people were referred to as "Radiants". Each Radiant has a unique set of abilities, both passive and aggressive. Most of the Agents that make up the Valorant Protocol are Radiants, while others have access to Radiant technology.
VISUAL ELEMENTS OF THE RANKING SYSTEM
The following changes have been made:
- ♦Now more descriptive colors are used to distinguish one rank from another.
- ♦ Visual elements for rating indicators in matches have been worked out.
In addition, the developers decided to remove the name "VALORANT" to avoid confusion between the names of the game and the rank.
Now the highest rank will be named after agents with supernatural power, radiants.
GAUGE MATCHES AND GROUP PLAY
The latest update has simplified the process of playing in a group during calibration matches. Riot is working to ensure that matchmaking is fair and balanced, regardless of your group size. This will become one of the main long-term goals of the development team.
Now you can get into a calibration match with friends, even if there is a rather large difference between your skill levels (within reasonable limits). So if you're one of the top players and your friend is just getting started, the matchmaking system will still prevent you from starting competitive play together. This will preserve the competitive aspect of the game, and the gameplay will remain fair to other players.
Riot continues to streamline the matchmaking process so you can play against an evenly matched opponent in a group of any size. By the end of the Closed Beta, results were achieved where most players were evenly matched in about half of all matches (this result was somewhat different for the top two ranks).
Matchmaking has also been improved for players of the Immortal and Radiant ranks. However, when playing at this level, a team of five players will have a certain advantage over solo players. The search for ways to solve this problem continues, and the developers plan to talk about everything in more detail a little later.
RANK PROGRESS
During each act (which lasts approximately two months), you will be able to observe the progress of your rank and receive rewards for your success in the game. The game will silently track your progress once Competitive Play launches in patch 1.02. After a while, visual information will begin to be displayed in your match history, and then in other menus of the game client. You will be able to see your overall results in the act: how your rank improved, the total number of wins, as well as the number of wins at your highest rank.
FUTURE PLANS
Here's what Riot Games said:
We understand that many of you are looking forward to new features related to competitive group play, in-game tournaments, improvements to make overtime play more fair, and the ability to compare players at higher ranks in more detail (for example, using a leaderboard) . Right now, we are focusing almost all of our attention on preparing for the launch of Competitive Matchmaking worldwide. But over time, we are going to deal with these issues.
Looking to the future, we think team play will be the most important element of the VALORANT competitive ecosystem. We want all players to have the opportunity to come together and show their solidarity in intense matches. We hope that competitive matches will be bright and memorable.
