What we get in Game Pass
A catalog of several hundred games. In its model, Game Pass is similar to Netflix: you pay for a subscription and get access to a whole library of games. Once the subscription expires, access is lost.
Every month, Microsoft updates the service library: removes about a dozen games and adds new ones. Say, in December 2022, Game Pass subscribers will lose access to the indie adventure game Firewatch, but will be able to download LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Only Microsoft games remain in Game Pass forever. These are shooters Halo and Gears of War, racing series Forza, RPG Fallout and others. Xbox Game Studios games are included in Game Pass immediately upon release. In 2023, service subscribers will be able to play Starfield, Forza Motorsport and other Microsoft games on the day of release.

Sometimes games from third-party studios and publishers get into Game Pass at the start. In 2023, subscribers will immediately get access to the Russian shooter Atomic Heart, the horror Amnesia: The Bunker, the action Hollow Knight: Silksong and some other multiplatform games. On PlayStation and Steam, they will have to be purchased separately.
EA Play Game Library. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can download games from publisher Electronic Arts, including FIFA 22 soccer sim, Battlefield 2042 shooter, Mass Effect: Legendary Collection RPG, and all Dragon Age fantasy titles. The company's new games are released to Game Pass Ultimate six months or a year after release.
Xbox Live Gold for multiplayer and free games. Game Pass includes a Live Gold subscription that gives you access to the online features of all games. Without it, you won’t be able to enter multiplayer, for example, Call of Duty shooter or FIFA football simulator. Also, Live Gold owners receive two free Microsoft games every month that are not included in the Game Pass catalog.
Cloud service Xbox Cloud Gaming. With it, you can run games from the Game Pass catalog on phones, tablets, computers and TVs with Cloud Gaming support. Games are played on devices remotely using cloud technologies. Cloud Gaming is not available in Russia.
What types of subscription are there
Game Pass for Xbox for $10. Microsoft Standard Subscription for Xbox Consoles. Subscribers get access to hundreds of titles for Xbox Series, Xbox One and Xbox 360. But it does not include games from the EA Play catalog, Xbox Live Gold and Cloud Gaming.
Game Pass for PC for $10. The catalog of offers for computers is slightly different from the console one. There are no console games like Gears of War 2 and Fable II, but there are PC exclusives. For example, the action Death Stranding, the strategies of Total War: Warhammer III and Age of Empires IV, which are not on the Xbox. Game Pass for PC also includes the EA Play catalog.

How to subscribe in Russia
Russian users cannot purchase a Game Pass subscription directly from the Microsoft Store. It must be redeemed with a gift card. Here's how to do it:
- Buy the Game Pass subscription option you're interested in from one of the retailers. Payment cards are sold in Buk, M-video, DNS and other retail chains. On average, Game Pass Ultimate costs 3 R for 2694 months, and more than 12 R for 10 months.
- After payment, you will receive a code and log in to your Microsoft account. Enter the 25-digit code from the seller in the field.

How to get the most out of a Game Pass
Each country has its own subscription price. It is best to buy in the cheapest region. For example, American Game Pass Ultimate for 12 months costs $85, and Argentine - an average of 2000 R. To activate a foreign Game Pass, you need to log in from a foreign IP address and use a bank card from a state where there is no official representation of Xbox. For example, Kazakhstan or Georgia.
If there is no card, ask for help from friends or intermediaries on trading platforms like plati.market. The scheme is simple: you transfer money to a person and indicate which subscription you want. He buys and gives it to you thanks to the "Buy as a gift" option.
Where to find and download games in Game Pass
On Xbox. Turn on your console and sign in to your subscribed account. Find the Game Pass app in the menu. Enter it and examine the catalog. To see all available games, click on "Show All". If you want to find a specific game, go to the "Search" section.
Not all games in the subscription are available for Russian accounts. For example, Midnight Fight Express and Tell Me Why were not released in the Russian Game Pass. To bypass the restriction, change the console region.
To do this, go to Settings → System → Language and Location → Location. Choose any region you like, for example the USA. In games and on the console, the Russian language will not disappear. After that, click on the "Restart" button.
On PC. Windows 10 and 11 come preinstalled with the Xbox app. If not, download app in the Microsoft Store and run it. Sign in to your Microsoft account with a Game Pass. You can find the entire catalog in the "All PC games" section.
As in the case of the Xbox, not all games of the service are available in the Russian Game Pass for PC. The restriction can be bypassed in the settings. Go to "Settings" → "Time and language" → "Country or region". Choose any country. Go back to the Xbox app and find the game you're interested in.
