Shadowheart and her role in Baldur's Gate 3
Shadowheart is one of the potential members of your team in Baldur's Gate 3. She is also infected illithid parasite, which makes her situation more complicated.
Ways to save Shadowheart
Break the capsule (strength test)
If your character is a barbarian, you have the option to try breaking the capsule with force. Try pulling the cover first, and then select the option “To not give up. Break this thing.” You will have to pass a strength check and get a result of at least 10. If successful, Shadowheart will be saved.
Open capsule via console (wisdom check)
If your character is not a barbarian, the only way to save Shadowheart is to activate the console located to the right of the capsule. When examining the console, you will notice a groove and will need to find an otherworldly rune to activate it. Go east from where Shadowheart is and fight the Intelligence Eater. After this, find the dead slave and search her to find an otherworldly rune (see our video below).
Now, when inspecting the console, select the option “Insert rune into slot.” Then select "Command the capsule to open," which will trigger a Wisdom check. You need to roll 2 or more to successfully open the capsule.
What happens if you don't save Shadowheart
If you ignore the calls of your allies and do not rescue Shadowheart on the ship, she will still get out. However, you will miss the opportunity to establish a good relationship with her. You can meet her on the beach later, not far from the closed wooden door that she will break through.
What happens if you kill Shadowheart
You can also choose to kill Shadowheart. To do this, simply throw some projectile with AoE damage at her, for example, a caustic liquid. Her health will drop to zero and you will be able to take her items.
Where else can you find Shadowheart?
If you haven't met Shadowheart after the shipwreck, go to the Druid Grove. You will find her there, near one of the buildings, next to other refugees and druids. This method is an alternative to meeting on the beach.
