How to beat Astalos in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Astalos is a Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak monster that originally debuted in Monster Hunter Generations. Classified as a flying wyvern, along with the likes of Rathalos or Diablos, Astalos uses the power of thunder to destroy its prey.
Astalos has a large number of crested organs that the monster can vibrate to create and store massive amounts of electricity. Cruel to the point of guilt, they are known to ruthlessly drive intruders from their territory.
Compared to other monsters that use thunder like Tobi-Kodachi, this monster is much more imposing in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. It is found in the Sanctuary Ruins, the Flooded Forest, and the new Sunbreak jungle map.
The monster is also the target of the quest Finding the Doctor, which is a quest Urgent Hub Quest, which players will receive as they progress through the story of Sunbreak.
Players can use armor or decorations that provide Thunder Resistance against Astalos in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
As a flying wyvern in Monster Hunter Rise, Astalos is more interested in fighting from a distance and staying out of close combat. He usually attacks with his tail as well as the lightning he accumulates in his body.
Hunters need to be aware of this, and melee specialists will want to make sure they practice their dodge skills. If still difficult, it might not hurt to use armor or decorations that provide bonuses like Defense Boost or Evade Extender. Ranged hunters also need to be mindful of their distance, as Astalos can get close quickly.
One of the most useful assets that hunters can use against Astalos is armor or jewelry that provides Thunder Resistance. With a high enough skill Thunder Resistance, players will be able to minimize Astalos' primary elemental attacks and raise their base defense a bit.
When choosing a weapon, players will want to use a weapon that deals ice damage, as this is Astalos' primary weakness. If players do not have ice weapons, they should at least refrain from thunder and dragon weapons, as the wyvern is immune to thunder and resistant to dragon elemental attacks.
In the Astalos fight, melee hunters must stay close to the monster's head and tail in order to deal damage. This should help them avoid melee attacks while still dealing solid damage and gaining stuns.
However, once Astalos takes off, Monster Hunter Rise players would be better off retreating. When it gets airborne, the wyvern will usually use an AOE thunder strike like its thunder barrier. This movement creates a ball that splits into thunderclaps, somewhat similar to a tornado. Kushaly Daora.
Astalos has a fairly high overall health compared to many of the earlier monsters in sun break, so Monster Hunter Rise players will want to prepare for a longer fight. This means addition Mega Potions и Nulberryto avoid any Thunder Light they can withstand.
Bringing in a few other hunters can also be beneficial, although players should keep in mind that this increases Astalos' overall health. However, the rewards for defeating a wyvern are well worth the effort.
