After beta testing this feature in January 2021, Epic Games brought back the "Return a Friend" program, which is designed to bring people back to Fortnite by giving them rewards for inviting old friends, albeit in a slightly different way than before.
While Fortnite is still a popular game, it's safe to say that its popularity has declined quite a bit since it was at its peak. To address this issue, Epic Games has introduced a system designed to bring old players who may have left the game back into battle royale.
Called the "Bring a Friend" program, this feature allows current players to invite old teammates to come back and receive rewards for doing so. Here's how you can invite old friends back, who qualifies, and what rewards you can earn.
How does the Return a Friend program work?
Luckily, the "Return a Friend" system is relatively simple and works the same as before: players who have friends who haven't been active for 30 days can invite those friends to join the game. This will bring that person a reward.
This time is different in that you no longer NEED friends who have been inactive for 30 days to participate. Instead, if you don't have anyone that meets those criteria, you can now just invite new players and still get some rewards.
However, there are a few simple steps you should follow:
- Go to the site Reboot-A-Friend
- Log into your Epic Games account associated with your Fortnite information.
- Scroll down to the "Ready to Return" section and choose from the list of names presented to you.
- Click "Return" next to the name of the eligible player.
- Confirm your choice
However, you won't just get your rewards after sending this invitation: you'll have to play a few matches with this player if you want everything the program has to offer.
Reboot-A-Friend Program Awards
Both the way you get the rewards and the rewards themselves are different this time too. First, instead of the number of games you play, a points system is now used. Players reloading one friend will get 100 points and then 10 points for every game you play with them.
The awards have also changed. Fans will now have more interesting cosmetics compared to last time, with the addition of some new pickaxes, a custom hang glider, and more. Here is the full breakdown of the awards:
- 100 points: graffiti "Return a friend"
- 200 points: wrap "Heartbeat"
- 300 points: hang glider "Winged poison"
- 400 points: Pick "Plasma Carrot"
All in all, the rewards themselves are pretty cool, especially since you can't get them anywhere else. We hope you have a friend who is eligible for the award.
