FFXIV Endwalker: Guide to the Tower of Babel

Tower of Babel Fight #1 - Barnabas

Enix Square

This guy certainly maintains a pretty strong punch.

When you arrive at the end of Magitek maintenance, Barnabas will be waiting for you in his battle arena. The moves he will use in this fight are as follows:

  • At the beginning of the battle, the outer area of the area where the boss fight takes place will be covered with a statistical field. All players standing in the area are affected by a debuff that deals damage over time.
  • Ground and Pound. A linear AOE ability that acts in the direction of a random player in the group.
  • When the boss starts using "Dynamic Pound", all players, as well as the AOE line, gain positive and negative charges. When "Dynamic Pound" is triggered, players with positive charge should move to one side of the line, and players with negative charges should move to the other side. In this case, all players with the same charges need to stay close to each other. Players with positive charges stay closer to the line, which also has a positive charge. Players with negative charges move away from the line with a positive charge as far as possible. If the AOE line has a negative charge, then everything is done in the same way, only players with a positive charge are further from it, and players with a negative charge are closer.
  • When the boss starts using "Dynamic Scrapline", he and the players will receive positive or negative charges. In addition, an AOE zone appears near Barnabas. When "Dynamic Scrapline" is triggered, players should do the same as in the case of the "Dynamic Pound" ability - stand together depending on the type of charge, closer or further to the boss, depending on which charge affects him. After that, another AOE zone will appear with the same radius as the first time.
  • «Shock Force” - a marker that indicates the place where the players need to gather together.
  • «Thundercall” and “Rolling Scrapline” are simple round AOE areas to avoid.

Tower of Babel Fight #2 - Lugae

When you arrive at the end of the Battle Conditioning, Lugae will be waiting for you in his battle arena. The moves he will use in this fight are as follows:

  • Thermal Suppression: AoE all over the room, you can just soften and heal through it as there is no way to avoid it.
  • Magitek Missl: Two party members are targeted for AoEs and they must get out of the way to successfully avoid them.
  • Magitek Ray: Lugae fires an AoE line at a random party member. He will then move back to the center of the arena and two plates will become active and he will use one of two abilities randomly (during both of these possible attacks, Luge will fire various AoE attacks that you must avoid as you move around the arena):
    • Magitek Chakram: Several chakras will spawn outside of the arena. You have to step on the purple plate to inflate yourself to the Minimum, so the chakras just pass over you without hitting.
    • Shower: The arena will fill with water and you will be debuffed with Heavy and Breathless, which will stack up and kill you after eight stacks. To avoid this, you will have to step on a green plate, which will turn you into a toad.
  • Explosion Magitek: Three huge bombs will fall into the arena after this attack is thrown and after a while they will explode in cross lines of AoEs that will spread throughout the arena. Keep an eye on where they land and quickly move to a safe area before they do.

Tower of Babel Boss Battle - Akon from Akons: Anima

Enix Square

We wouldn't like to call this boss ugly...

When you arrive at the end of the Iron Maw, Anima will be waiting for you in her battle arena. The moves he will use in this fight are as follows:

  • Lunar Nail: Several moon nails will fall on the edges and center of the arena and will be tied to each other. Any quadrant that has tethers on all four sides will be filled with AoE and you must move any of the safe, unfinished quadrants to avoid.
  • Phantom pain: This is the name of the attack that Animal will throw to trigger Lunar Nail's AoE.
  • Mega Graviton: AoE all over the room, you can just soften and heal through it as there is no way to avoid it. This will spawn a Mega Graviton in every corner of the room.
  • Pater Patriae: This is an AoE attack line down the center of the room.
  • Essential Extraction: Each Mega Graviton that spawns will be tied to a different party member and you must run to the opposite side of the arena until the tether changes shape. Pater Patriae will be launched and players will reach for their Mega Graviton. If you don't get far enough, this sequence of attacks will deal a lot of damage and give you a stack of vulnerabilities.
  • Limitless Pain: Once the Anima finishes throwing this attack, all party members will be pulled into the center of the arena and the AoE will spawn, continuously hitting players and growing in size. You should quickly run around the corners of the arena to escape, using Sprint if needed, as this AoE deals a lot of damage per second.
  • Imperatum: The party will be pulled into the floor to turn to face the lower half of the Anima. The Chaos Gauge will then begin to fill up, and if the party fails to defeat the bottom half before it fills up, Oblivion will later trigger the destruction of the party.
  • Oblivion Claw: Two groups of shadow claws will spawn on the east and west sides of the arena and then move around the arena dealing heavy damage. You have to keep in mind which side spawns first and then stand in the gap between the claws, quickly running out of the way before the second set of claws moves across the arena.
  • Erupting Pain: Two random party members will be marked with the next AoEs. Whoever receives these markers must place them on the east and west sides of the arena and start running to opposite sides without crossing each other.
  • Oblivion: If the party defeats the bottom half of the Anima before the Chaos Gauge fills up, this attack will do little to no damage and send the party back to the top half, where the Anima will cycle its attacks until it is defeated. If you fail to defeat the bottom half in time, the party will be erased here.

Recommendations for passing The Tower of Babil in FFXIV

Recommendations for tanks:

  • Place the Lugae boss in the center of the area so that the rest of the players have easy access to each of the two panels;
  • Thresh doesn't deal massive damage, so you don't have to use your important cooldowns.

Tips for healers:

  • In this dungeon, the tank does not receive huge damage. Almost all boss abilities deal AOE damage to the raid, so focus on AoE healing rather than target healing to keep all allies' health at the same level;
  • Be sure to heal the group after the second phase of the Anima fight, as the next one will be a huge damage ability.

Tips for players with the DPS role:

  • Use AOE abilities more often during combat with trash;
  • The last boss has a lot of AOE zones that trigger in different directions, so be as careful as possible.

Loot from The Tower of Babil dungeon in FF14

The Tower of Babil dungeon drops level 530 Imperial set pieces. You need level 83 to get them.
