How do teleports work in Valorant?

valoorant

With another teaser trailer available from a Valorant agent, we've learned a lot about the Viper - but has Riot shown how teleportation will work?

It looks like Riot is releasing new information about each of their agents on a weekly basis, and Viper is the latest character to get his time in the spotlight.

From the short snippet that was released, we learned a lot about how the Viper's set of abilities will look in the game, and also learned a little about her knowledge from the skips she uses during the battle.

While we've learned a lot of tidbits about the next Agent, we need to take our eyes off another feature in Valorant.

Thanks to a Counter-Strike veteran, Piotr' izakOOO ' Skowyrski, we already know what Valorant cards will have teleportation devices that allow one-way transportation between "Reactor Sites" is the target of Valorant, which are the equivalent sites in Counter-Strike or Call of Duty.

Now though, we could get our first look at how they would work in the overall scheme of things. Just in 0:14 in the Viper teaser, you can see what appears to be a portal to another location - which is labeled "Lab" - on the left side.

While we don't see the one-way portal used during the trailer, a lot can be gleaned from where it's located.

At first, the ability to teleport - and eventually plant a charge on the reactor pad - seems simple. As you can see from the trailer, Viper segments the map with relative ease and may well use his abilities to move to another site.

Since the portal is located in the trailer so close to reactor site A, it would be logical to assume that it would provide close proximity to the opposite site on the other side.

Moreover, teleportation in the tactical shooter Riot is not possible only through a one-way portal. One of the most mysterious agents of Valorant, Omen, has a set of abilities that allow them to manipulate space and time.

According to izakOOO Valorant's playtest, teleportation "really changes the pace of the map," which will provide a different dynamic that players won't be used to with CS:GO.
